Our Newest Supportive Housing Program:

Ryer Avenue

We are pleased to announce that our newest supportive housing program, Ryer Avenue, located in Mount Hope in the Bronx, opens this month! This location includes 52 supportive units for formerly homeless adults with mental illness and 33 apartments affordable to low-income households in the community. Stay tuned for updates on other ACMH projects on the horizon!

Our Response During COVID-19

Throughout the pandemic, we have continued to provide critical services and mitigated transmission through the provision of personal protective equipment and infection control training to staff and clients. As we navigate this new phase, we are putting our learned experience to good use in supporting and protecting our community. This fall, all of our community members had the opportunity to provide anonymous feedback to our response to the pandemic. Below is a snapshot of what they said:

“Last year, I was living in a shelter – they referred me to ACMH, and since then, my life has been better, outstanding. The staff and people I live with have helped me a lot. The staff have given me a chance to get myself together.”

Food Justice in the Bronx

Thanks to the New Roots Community Farm, weekly deliveries of free, local, and seasonal fruits and vegetables have resumed at our East 144th Street community in the Bronx through the end of October! This fresh produce is made available to our young adult and SP-SRO tenants as healthier food options. Melissa Trotman, ACMH Director for our East 144th Street residence, noted that every delivery contains a fresh variety each week, “so we’re always surprised to see what’s included! Our tenants love it and are always so thankful.” We’re excited to continue this partnership with an organization committed to fostering food justice in our community!
