Begin Again -- Water Communion and Ingathering

Rev. Dr. Linda Barnes, Worship Leader
Sarah Dan Jones, Music Director
Tatum Barnes, Director of Religious Education

Whether you are a familiar face or an on-line visitor, we welcome you on this Sunday as we resume our regular Sunday services. For this Water Communion service, we'll celebrate in-gathering with an all-generations service that will include song, story, humor, and tenderness. Join us as we welcome one another, those who are new and those returning, into this community of love, memory, and possibility.

It is our ritual to come together each September. To mark our annual reunion, each person or family brings a small sample of water for our water communion. We save this water every year and commingle it with hopes for our future and gratitude to be together again. This year, we invite you to bring water to the front porch of our building. On Friday and Saturday this week, there will be a container to receive a little bit of water from your summer. Whether it's from your tap or a brook, a pond or the ocean, bring whatever holds meaning for you. We will use this to begin again on Sunday.

Service will be LIVE STREAMED

THE ANNUAL MEETING  is Sunday, September 20th. The notice went out to members last week. If you have any questions or comments please come to Conversation with the Board this Monday night at 7. The link may be found on our website in the Zoom calendar.

September outreach It’s been nearly a month since Iowa was pummeled with hurricane level winds that continued for hours.  The damage was overwhelming:  homes, schools and businesses by the thousands were damaged and countless trees uprooted.  September’s outreach collection will go to the Unitarian Universalist Association’s disaster relief fund, to assist Iowans with their recovery efforts.  Giving is possible by using the donate button on Starr King’s website or mailing a check to Starr King UU Fellowship at PO Box 337, Plymouth 03264.   Please put “Iowa” in the note field.

The final Summer Service was a sharing of favorite poems and readings.  We ended by writing a few limericks together:
There once was a group from Starr King
for whom meeting online was a thing
They had lots to say
day after day
and wondered what others would bring

In Plymouth a group of UU’s
began meeting without any pews
in a great virtual room
somebody named zoom
Giving each of them several new views

We're going live during the midweek! Your Fellowship program staff, that is the minister, the music director, and the director of religious education, are offering short morning meditations, live on our Starr King UU Fellowship Facebook page. Join us as Tatum gifts us his meditations on Tuesdays, Rev. Linda offers her reflections on Wednesdays, and Sarah Dan brings her music to Thursday mornings. Hope to see you there for a little soulful connection.
