What's Happening 09-10-2020

It's Tool Time, Folks!
Let's Clean Up the Club

When the weather cools, it can only mean one thing. It's nearly time to begin our fall maintenance program.

In an article on the website today, Frank Pontious explains some of the repairs needed around the club and ways members can help. You can get all the details here.

Frank thanked all of the volunteers who have stepped up in the past.  "We hope to see you again this fall and winter as we keep the BYSC at a high level," he continued.

"And a special shout out to our new members.  Welcome to our volunteer program that has been sidelined for most of the year due to the pandemic.

"It is rewarding to work on projects for the club and to also meet other members. Besides, you will receive credit on up to 24 hours of volunteer work, or $240, on next years’ dues."

Commodore Trisha Gamble also weighed in on the need for some help around the club after months of Covid-19 shutdown. Read more here.

(Full disclosure: Club members who volunteer to support our programs can earn a discount of up to $240 on their annual dues. By working volunteer hours in the current calendar year, dues will be reduced for the subsequent year by $10 an hour up to 24 hours. The maximum credit is $240 per membership. Partial hours will be credited.)

This weekend we have the 2020 Pluff Mud Regatta with seven yacht clubs with about 200 sailors, coaches and parents in attendance. Check your email for a photo showing the Team Rigging Locations, which allows for social distancing between the clubs.

This year, it's an invitational only and typical onshore activities are cancelled. However, you can stop by to enjoy a food truck called Murican Border on Saturday night. Read more.

There will be a lot of people so please understand:

Parking: The lawn in front of the pool, near the entrance, will be reserved for participants' vehicles and boat trailers. This will leave limited parking for members' vehicles and trailers.

Dock Space: With more than 75 sailors with their coach and crash boats tied to our floating docks, there will be limited space
for members' boats. If you do tie-up, you may need to raft up or be moved.

Pool Facilities: We will have several families from distant clubs camping out on our property and they will be allowed to use the pool bathhouse. Following racing each day, the sailors will be allowed to use the pool.
