1) First Pres is meeting again for worship! Outdoor worship begins this Sunday, 9/13 at 10am in FPC's Cameron Street parking lot. We'll be masked and distanced. Bring a chair. We hope you can join us!
2) We are kicking-off the fall Sunday School program this Sunday, September 13th via Zoom at 9:15. We recognize it may be a challenge to do both Sunday School and worship, but there is free wifi on the walking mall if you want to bring a laptop and ZOOM with us there and then worship.
3) There will be a Children's Choir this fall on Thursdays from 4:30-5:15 and it begins on September 17th. It will be safe and fun! See the details below and let Amy know if you are interested! [amybowman07@gmail.com]
4) This Sunday is the final Outdoor VBS (4-6pm). If you're free this Sunday, register at fpcwinc.org/vbs, and plan to join us! We're talking about friendship!
This is how things will look over the next few months!
What and when we offer things will be very fluid this year. It will be coming out one month at a time so we can make adjustments in each new month based on what's working for families and what we're learning. Nevertheless, our strategy will be the same throughout the year that includes 4 types of programming to keep providing meaningful opportunities for kids and their families to draw closer to Jesus. The 4 types of programming will be:
With this method, we’ll provide you with resources that you can use to grow in faith at home. Parents will be the primary teacher to share faith with your children, but the church makes sure you have quality ideas, activities, conversation guides, prayer prompts, videos, etc. to get things going. Look for resource emails and supply pickup opportunities.
With this method, we can connect with your child and family through the internet in real-time, without even leaving your house (or getting out of your PJs). Our primary way to do this will be to connect via ZOOM. It’s a chance to connect with other church kids and leaders from the church. At this time, our Sunday School program will be VIRTUAL at 9:15 on Sundays.
With this method, you’ll come to church to participate in programming as a family. There’s no prep for the parents. You will do the activities with your child, in community with other families. You’ll have time to play together, pray together, discuss, and participate in activity-based learning. Your supplies will be prepped ahead so materials are not shared, or are sanitized if they are shared. We’ll be distanced and masked and often outside when coming together in-person.
With this method, you’ll bring your child to church so they can participate in programming on their own. They’ll be in the care of church staff and volunteers and we’ll engage in fun, safe activities. Children’s choir will be an example of an “At Church Drop-Off” activity that happens on Thursdays at 4:30 pm. We’ll be distanced and masked and often outside when coming together in-person.

Children's Choir Rehearsals will be held on THURSDAYS this year from 4:30-5:15 for children ages 4-4th grade. We will rehearse outdoors in the alcove between the Fellowship Hall and 12 E Cork. This year the focus will be on instrumental music, and we will stay distanced and masked. There are opportunities to participate virtually if that works better for your family. Youth are welcome to participate as helpers. Our first rehearsal will be Thursday, September 17.
