Can you believe it, the restart happens this Sunday! This event has been in the works for over two and a half years! Our congregation made a faithful stand on the hope and promise that if we were available for Christ to use us, He would. Jesus tells us that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37). Two and a half years ago our congregation responded with a "we are willing, use us" and started us on the journey to a restart.
The church had three ways to move forward: sell the building to another ministry and or join with them, close the doors all together (no one liked this option), or do a church restart. For two years this congregation prepared for what it would look like to enter into a church restart, then Covid-19 hit!
Yet, our God is so faithful! We have seen amazing things grow from the pain of uncertainty. Through even these strange times we were able to start several new ministries. Back in March of this year we opened up a new online ministry presence, and continue to look for ways to improve this ministry while engaging with people in new ways. The congregation continued forward to engage with our neighbors on 51st and adapt to new ways of reach out. We even started a new type of church service on Thursday nights which continues to bring new faces for a great meal and a chance to engage in conversation.
God is faithful and It is time to celebrate as the church gathers together! This Sunday we will celebrate all that God has done and is doing through our congregation. We will lift up our praise as we anticipate this new season of ministry. We have many reasons to celebrate as we reflect on all those who have come before us, passing on the legacy we are now calling Engage Church. The Christian mission we hold has been passed down for almost 2,000 years when Jesus first sent His disciples into the world so that all would come to know Him as their Lord and Savior. Back in 1901, this mission was picked up by a group of Baptist that stated their reason for forming was to "glorify Christ by reaching people who were far from Him." In other words to grow Christ's kingdom. This same reasons exists today as we continue their legacy through Engaging Christ and His Word, Engaging one another, and showing that Jesus cares.
Here we are, so many years after that first gathering in 1901. Our congregation has gone through many changes over the years. We have seen name changes, building changes, pastoral changes, membership changes, but the one consistent has always been, and always will be, Jesus Christ. He is the head of the Church, the one who changes hearts, and the one that will use us in His ministries. This is something to celebrate as we see God still working today!
Join us this Sunday, in person or online, as we celebrate this new season of ministry that has been gifted to us by God. This Sunday we will start outside of the building in prayer and reflections, then cut the ribbon and move into a time of worship and praise at Engage Church! Dr. Charles Revis will bring the Word for us this Sunday, we will have wonderful food following the worship service, and above all else, we will worship Jesus as we Engage Him and His Word, Engage with one another, and show that Jesus cares! What a great mission set before us. My prayer is that as Engage Church we would never miss an opportunity to engage and grow Christ's Kingdom through the power of Jesus Christ.

September 13th will be the official launch of Engage Church! We will start the service outside with prayer and a ribbon cutting, then move into the building for a time of worship. The service will be followed by a meal outside. We have volunteers bringing the food so all we need is you and those you are inviting.

Awana club has starting up. Bring your children, grandchildren, neighbors children, and there is even a chance for you to volunteer.

First Sunday of the month we are take all canned food you have brought in through the month to a ministry in need.
For our online congregation, feel free to give to this ministry with the note "for canned food" and someone will go purchase canned food or make a direct donation to the ministry where the food is going for the month, or let us know and we can help you find a organization in your area to support.
