A final bow for the BC Boys Choir

As previously announced earlier this summer, the BC Boys Choir has ceased operations after over 50 years in existence. Last month, the Vancouver Sun published this retrospective full of memories. It's well worth a read!
Introducing Vancouver Island's newest choir...

Join us in welcoming the Capital Soul Choir, directed by acclaimed conductor/composer Brian Tate. Based in Victoria, the choir will perform gospel, spirituals, soul, and world music, with a mission to inspire through singing joyous and uplifting music of many traditions.

Due to the pandemic, the ensemble is starting out small – first as a chamber choir with outdoor rehearsals and strict safety protocols, but there are plans to grow as Island Health regulations permit. For more information or to audition, visit the Capital Soul Choir website.
Victoria Conservatory of Music offers new class

Do you sing in a choir or are you a voice student who needs to work on music-reading skills? Sight Singing for Choristers started September 8th with instructor Nicholas Fairbank – in-person at the Alix Goolden Performance Hall with physical distancing measures in place. Using the movable Do system, and through the study of keys and interval recognition, this course will train you to sing at sight from written scores, using repertoire from all periods and all styles. Learn more about VCM's Fall classes and registration!
Phoenix Chamber Choir unveils fall projects

If you loved Phoenix Chamber Choir's parody videos this spring and summer, then listen up – they're inviting one and all to take part in a parody of the Disney classic "Part of Your World." This collaboration will be unveiled at their online Gathering Together concert slated for October 24, also featuring performances from their smaller "Phoenix Ventures," as well as up-close introductions to the singers, and a chance to interact with the artistic staff in real time!

... Oh, and did we mention they're bringing VOCES8 to the Chan Centre on March 9, 2021. Full details here.
