From the Principal

Dear Parkview Families,
We had a wonderful week meeting our students during assessments. Thank you for your efforts to come to Parkview and support this work! Our staff have been working all week to prepare for our first day of school on September 14. We are so excited to begin our Hybrid and Digital Academy.  It's going to be a great year!

We have some fantastic new teachers that I am excited to introduce to our Parkview community:

Ms. Hirani- Kindergarten

I was born in Karachi, Pakistan. I spent my early childhood in Dallas, Texas and then moved to Minnesota where I have been living for the last 16 years. I am a proud graduate of District 196! I attended Metropolitan State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Urban Elementary Education and am certified to teach grades K-6th. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my parents and four sisters. Also, I enjoy volunteering my time to the community, spending time at the lake, and exploring different parts of the world.

Ms. Weatherly- First Grade

I graduated from The University of Minnesota Duluth with a double license in Elementary and Special Education. This will be my first year teaching, last year I was a long-term substitute at Cedar Park in first grade, then a long-term sub here at Parkview in special education and ended the year at Diamond Path in special education. I am so excited to be back at Parkview and be a panda again!

Ms. Palesch- Fifth Grade

This will be my fourth year teaching but my first year at Parkview. I’m so happy to be here! I previously taught 7th and 8th grade science in Burnsville and was a K-5 STEAM specialist in Brooklyn Center. I am currently working on my master’s degree in school library and information studies. When I have free time, I like to be active outside and workout. I am also recently engaged! My fiancé and I love exploring new campgrounds, state parks, and hiking trails in our small RV.

Ms. Haugh - STEM Specialist

Hello! My name is Ali Haugh, and I am joining the Parkview community from Glacier Hills Elementary school in Eagan. I previously taught fourth and fifth grade, as well as science/STEM. I am incredibly excited to begin this new journey with such an incredibly group of colleagues and neighbors! In the new STEM Lab, we will spend time focusing on outdoor learning, writing and testing hypotheses, and developing models to solve real-life problems! Please check out the STEM Lab webpage!

Ms. Holsten - Special Education Center Base

My name is Mrs. Rachelle Holsten.  I am starting my 5th year teaching in District 196!  I have taught second and third grade special education,  LLI at Northview before coming over to Parkview.  I have been teaching for 10 years and have my Master’s Degree in Special Education.  I grew up in Pierre, SD moving here in May 2010 with my husband (as his family is from here). My wonderful husband Mike and I have three children.  Twins that are 8 Macy and Flint in third grade and Nellie that is 5 years old starting Kindergarten at Diamond Path Elementary. I am the new Social Worker at Parkview this year, and I am excited to be here.  I’ve worked in schools the last 8 years, primarily working as a school-based therapist, and last year as a school social worker and trauma coach in St Paul Public Schools. Prior to providing therapy, I worked with youth and families in crisis. Outside of school, I am a mom of two adventurous, fun-loving girls (ages 3 and 5), and one regal dog named Steve:).  I love spending time with my family and friends, being outside, going on adventures, laughing, crafting, practicing yoga, journaling, and reading. Revised District 196 School Year Calendar

Parent Drop off and Pick up

Parents dropping off and picking up students before and after school will use the entrance into the smaller parking lot on the east side. As you enter please flow into one lane along the curb so students can exit curbside.

Due to safety concerns we do not want students getting out of their car if they are in the middle lane. The middle and outside lanes are meant for parents to access once they have dropped off their kids and are leaving the parking lot. This should help the traffic flow.

If you are dropping off or picking up please make sure you pull all the way to the flag pole so we can accommodate all parents. In the morning it is also helpful your child is ready to exit the car when you pull up along the curb. Please do not wait until you are directly in front of the school. Once you stop, your child is expected to unbuckle, exit the vehicle, and walk to the grade level assigned entrance area. If you are running late please pull up to the front and call the office for support.

If you need to get out of your vehicle you should pull into one of the parking spots and walk you child across the cross walk to the curb. DO NOT send your child walking through the parking lot alone. Thank you for helping make these busy times of the day run smoothly.

Parent drop off and pick up adult behavior

We understand that student drop off and pick up times can be stressful. It is important to always model positive and appropriate behavior. At Parkview we encourage students to treat others as they want to be treated. Please remember this as you are dropping off your child. Safety of the students is our number one priority during these busy times. Thank you for your help keeping our students safe.

Mr. Zick
