Motorcyclists Fighting Blindness
Your Ontario Volunteer Team is working this challenge like no other time in the history of Ride for Sight...

Riders and Friends, we hope that you and your loved ones are doing well. Your Team of Ride for Sight Volunteers is doing very well. They have been working very hard these last few months putting plans in place to sort out all the issues involved in having the Celebration in September. And now we're almost there, in the sun, with the smell of burning rubber, and a song in the air.

Let's start with the bad news:
Due to present Ontario restrictions, we will only be taking 100 Pre-Registered Riders & Friends into the Fenelon Fairgrounds, September 18 weekend, for the Celebration. There will be no "Ride Ins" or "Walk Ins" - all Riders and Volunteers will be pre-registered or will not gain entry. These are Ontario restrictions that we cannot bend on.

We understand that everyone lives under different circumstances, and if you are already a pre-registered Rider (via ONLINE Fundraising) and do not want to attend the celebration, we completely understand. We thank you for your efforts in fundraising during this crazy year, and we will get any awards out to you sometime after the celebration.

If you are already registered ONLINE with $75 or more, you will be contacted shortly by direct email, or phone call from a Volunteer, to confirm whether you will be attending or not. If you do not want to attend, we will open up your saved spot to another Rider that wants to pre-register.

If you are a Rider who has collected donations, but you are not an ONLINE Fundraiser please contact Brenda at Ride for Sight 1-800-461-3331 Ext. 224 and we'll get you pre-registered.

As always, with planning our Celebrations, the safety of our Volunteers, Riders, Friends, and Community we celebrate in, is our top concern.

and the good news:
We've got a great line up of entertainment. We've added a Guitar Clinic for our budding musicians (with Hall of Fame Blues Guitarist Frank Cosentino).  All the usual fun involving motorcycles, and some great stuff to be won!

If you have raised $75 or more, and whether you plan to be one of the 100 or not, you will have a chance to win this beautiful Broil King BBQ (pictured below). You do not need to be at the Celebration to win, you will need to let us know if you have donations to turn in - call Brenda.

Yes, there will be social distancing, and hand sanitizer, and some mask wearing, so please come prepared to make some one of a kind memories.

We appreciate your ongoing support, understanding and patience during this time. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@rideforsight.com - or visit the Ride for Sight website
rideforsight.com and use the Contact form.

Please stay safe Riders and Friends, we hope to see at least 100 of you at the Celebration.

Sad News for Ride for Sight Ontario
Very sad news for our Ride for Sight community, we've lost a dear Friend, Rider and High Miler.  Gary Massel of Shakespeare, ON passed away peacefully at his home this past August.  Gary was a very unassuming guy who would do anything for you. He raised his Ride for Sight donations mainly by saving his change in a jar all year long, cashing it in, and then bringing that money to Ride for Sight.

Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Gary's family (which of course includes his brother, our Friend, Rider and High Miler, Tony Massel of St. Columban, ON).

If there is a heaven Gary, we know you are there lending a helping hand to others.

Although he won't be with us physically this year, thanks to his brother Tony - Gary Massel will be a High Miler once again in 2020.  Tony has found those jars of coins and set up an ONLINE fundraising page to honour Gary. Between Gary's personal coin donation and donations from Friends and Family, Gary has raised over $1,500.

If you do not intend to join the Celebration this year, please consider following the link and giving a donation in memory of our Friend and Rider, Gary Massel, on his page.

42 years later...
We're still here, our mission is not complete. But now each year we are moving faster and faster towards the cures.

Now we are hearing about and even seeing results.  Because of research funded by Canadians through Riders and Friends of Ride for Sight, Scientists have a clearer understanding into many of the causes of blindness, needed treatments are being developed, and in some cases - sight has been restored.
