Welcome to the Streatham & Marlborough Sweep (SMS), a regular update of club news

Pavilion Update

We now have 185 comments supporting the project which is a phenomenal effort. Well done all!

Following discussions with our nursery partner, we have agreed to obtain specialist advice from a local planning consultant regarding the commercial nature of the venture, as outlined in last week's mail. With time running short, we have requested an extension of one month to allow for this work to be completed. This has been accepted by the planners so their recommendation will now occur in October.

For those yet to make comments, please offer your supportive comments on the Southwark Planning website
Following the last round of games, there are players from the Women's team featuring in the top ten statistics for all three disciplines across the club. This is quite the achievement given the longest format played is 30 overs and there is often a retirement in place. Excellent work from this talented group!

Results from the last week

For the third time this year, SMCC fielded eight Saturday sides. Another great effort by all those concerned to get people games and they were largely successful as we won five of them and only lost one.

The performance of the week belong to our 2s skipper and fixture sec, Chris Hobbis, who led from the front with the bat as he hit 81 not out (including 13 from the last over) to secure a tie against Addiscombe in a thriller. Earlier, Saif Sarwavkhan had taken 5-21 as Addiscombe set us 198 to win. The 2s followed up with a comfortable win vs Alleyn on the bank holiday and sit second in the league going into the final round.

Shaf Malik also starred this week with the ball taking a combined figures of 17-3-39-10 in the past week in three games. Some excellent "F&G" from his (self appointed) "Licence to Spin" moniker.

Other victories were secured by the 3rd XI, our three Saturday friendly sides and the midweek XI. Some fantastic individual and team performances which can be seen below. I would encourage you to join our Instagram to see the video match reports, members sympathetically questioned by Wrighty.
