Although there’s never any promise that things will change overnight, there’s something about slightly slower, chillier mornings and crisper blue skies that have me feeling hopeful this month.

Perhaps it’s a diary that suddenly has a handful of plans, a new series of Strictly and GBBO on the horizon (which, I think we can all unanimously agree we deserve) or the fact I just love a back-to-school feeling (y’know, except when I was actually at school of course)- but there’s something about the start of September that always feels a little bit more fresh than January. Last year I remember being in bed poorly for the start of September, so perhaps it’s two years worth of LET’S DO THIS that have built up? Who knows- but I’m not grumbling...

Admittedly, you don’t need a new month for a ‘new start’. You can turn over a leaf any minute of any day- and I promise that's just as acceptable as a new years resolution or new term. But- lockdown has been a tough ride for so many of us in so many ways, so sometimes having a date laid out- a shiny new 1st in a diary- whether that includes a pencil case and starched white shirt or not, can be the permission we need to refocus a little, re-prioritise things and approach things with a gentler mind set.

I have learnt a hell of a lot over the past few months, and I have definitely felt myself become a little more resilient and grown up in many ways- and I’m excited (albeit nervous) for the next few months and to take these #skillz into my new school term with me too (I was trying to work out what academic year I'd be in, but swiftly gave up after Year 20...) Hopefully this feeling sticks around (because hey, we can all do with our internal cheerleaders working overtime)- but either way, at least we’ll have the Strictly Halloween special to look forward to…

Have a gorgeous Sunday, and bright week ahead.

  • Starting this weeks nice things with Pip and Tara's bloody cool Feed the Feconomy t-shirts which they've just launched! Aiming to raise funds to launch their very own female-founded subscription box, not only are the designs nothing short of dreamy- but everything they do goes into supporting more female led businesses, which is pretty bloody cool indeed.
  • A very, very nice thing this week was watching my best friend get married. There aren't enough words (or enough adjectives soppy enough) to go into detail about how beautiful her day was, but watching her- surrounded by those that love them the most was a truly special moment- and a real bit of light over the past few months.
  • This shoot by Nadine Ijewere for WSJ magazine might be the coolest thing I've seen this week and the brown dress shot is all the autumn inspiration I'll need (please and thank you).
  • This week I also went back to one of my favourite restaurants Artusi for the first time in forever with some wonderful pals, and not only can I not recommend it enough for any fellow Londoners- but can also highly recommend ordering two bowls of pasta for dinner too.
  • Finally, these tweets will fill you up and brighten your morning- I promise; whether that's this giant celery, Robert Paddington or Maggie's exchange with a certain Mr. Bear.

If you happen to have a spare moment this Sunday, may I ask you to please take a look and sign (if you are able) this #butnotmaternity petition- urging a change in the restrictions on birth partners during labour/at scans. You can read more here! Thank you!
Ever since revisiting my favourite 2007/8 playlist last week, Golden Silvers have been getting some serious airtime over in the Galvis household, with their beautiful acoustic version of Magic Touch feeling a little bit like September joy in a listen.

Having been on the hunt for some white cowboy boots since Summer began (with little to no avail- although these are v. good), last week I picked up these boots from Monki (which, thankfully have fulfilled all my Stevie Nicks dreams)- so now I’m just dreaming up ways of wearing them, as so far they’ve successfully snazzed up 90% of my current wardrobe, which is a job well done. Here a few dreamy pieces that have piqued my interest this week to maybe one day add to my Autumn wardrobe…
A little entry from our Somerset staycation- where we stayed and what we visited...
For anyone else also battling seasonal skin changes- here are some of my spotty skin saviours.
For any National Trust or Pride and Prejudice fans (or both) - this one's for you, kid!
How has it nearly been a year since my Papier collaboration launched?! Still pinching myself (and still available for a nosey...)
