I love everything about this picture.
The Wee Hours of Sept. 4, 2020

You know how it is when you have that friend who you love so much?

But you also know that s**t will get real when you talk so you kind of hold yourself back? Even though you know it is always good and helpful and interesting?

So then you keep waiting until you feel a little more together before you pick up the phone (aka start the draft within MailChimp)?

But then the complications keep rolling in to your space?

But you also don't have *that* tough of a situation especially compared to most of the world?

So you kind of want to tell her/him/your beloved MailChimp subscribers that it's both really hard these days but also quite manageable all things considered at the same time?

And you've been comparing yourself to your colleagues quite brutally and you remember learning from Facebook a million years ago, "don't compare your green room to somebody else's opening night"? So you want to say, both, I've been doing that, and, I don't recommend doing that?

And you know there is SO much need in the world now more than ever, and you feel both underutilized but also want to have faith in the process and accept the Flow of Life?

And you and your beloved friend (/newsletter) usually talk about money stuff and now it seems both trite/trivial AND monumentally important, sometimes tragically, impossibly so? And how do you even put that into words that are grounded in reality and not just marking time or filling space?

And you know when you have a lifelong history of clinical depression and it hasn't killed you yet so like what's the big major whoop, and you know some people don't get it so why mention it and yet you also know that you wouldn't recommend to anyone else to suffer silently so you want to be true to your word? So like how do you tell your friend, who also has a CRAPTON going on in her/his/their lives, to really not worry but also really know, holy fudge, August damn near burned me up from the inside out.

See what I mean, see why I had to stay away from writing all this for a while? ~emoji with the sheepish wide grin~

I'll share some gratitudes with you. That daily practice is helping me through this science fiction movie quite a lot.

I'm grateful for YNAB (You Need A Budget) and that it is still fun to keep updated.

I'm grateful for Ramit Sethi's Instagram. He is challenging the idea of always focusing on spending less or constricting financial flow. He wants people to learn how to enjoy money and I am here for that, too.

I'm grateful for 12-step recovery in the areas of money and how time is spent. If you are feeling out of control with spending, debting, or just general anxiety about finances I'd be glad to share with you some resource ideas just person to person. So glad to be studying how to "align with actions with my prayers".

I'm grateful for the pharmaceutical industry, as complicated as it can be.

I'm grateful for true friends. I hope you are learning more and more who your true friends are, and are "spending" your attention on those folks.

I'm grateful for the thousands of years that people have been studying basically coping with Earth life and making the best of all of it. And some of those folks were kind enough to tell stories and then commit them to writing so those of us babies on the way could get some shortcuts to coping as well as possible.

I'm grateful for technology, electronic communications, money that moves easily, nature, slow processes, and how all of those can balance together so beautifully.

I'm grateful for the US Open providing the absolute tastiest entertainment for my viewing pleasure. I never thought I would see a grand slam without fans there live, but the adaptations seem to be working well. I must continue to compare it to, "which is better....this slam as it is now, or no slam at all?"

I'm grateful that kids still want to play and dogs still want to chase sticks and balls and swim.

I'm grateful for people who read to the end of my long messages!! You winner!

Some good news from our friend Amy Jones, from after she completed the cashflow inventory exercise! (Amy's creation = https://www.recollectbetter.com/about)

"The big news is that I went back into YNAB today and figured out how to add the toolkit so that I could customize my labels and track which purchases are from local biz, small biz, female owned, black owned, etc. And I’m doing a good job of putting my money in places that are aligned with that, maybe 30% of the time. And I will find more.  That’s something I’ve integrated in recent years and have taken next level in the last few months."
So, I'm here if you want my professional services. (Or truthfully I'm also here just as a deep human being to experience some realness with. Let us not underestimate the value there. I need some of you, too.)

My services...

The financial wellness coaching, while less frequent in the pandemic for many folks for many good reasons, has been absolutely spiritually lit lately in ways I'm here to keep exploring. I offer a discount on the first half-hour session so we can take some time and get to know each other.

The coaching can also be helpful for assessing decisions where finances play a big part. (Often, the relationships and the boundaries are the most challenging parts, but money tends to get our attention)

I've gotten requests for one-off consultation sessions for, "Which Kind Of Financial Professional Do I Need? And Do You Know Any Of Them Who Do That?", and I am here for that too. I've spent a strong decade learning the possibilities and it's great fun to connect someone with a certified financial planner, or a tax accountant who is actually available to have human conversations. Often this type of session also includes, "what do I look for in a good bookkeeper? Which questions should I even ask? And which answers do I need to hear back from them?" Let's demystify so you get your needs met!

I could take maybe one more bookkeeping client as long as inventory is not involved...service-based businesses who want someone to responsibly care for their numbers are my sweet spot. I love checklists and procedures, which we develop together.

In the meantime,

may you be well
may your troubles be instructive
may you harmonize with your soul's purpose
may you experience peace
may the unlimited Sources keep breathing Life into you
may you laugh so hard you spit milk out of your nose

Love,

Beth

I was looking for a serious-face picture.
This one I had labeled, "mouth closed by tree".
That sounded kind of serious to I chose it.
Fun to remember how wonderful it is to be photographed by the lovely and talented Ellen Keith Shaw. She took so much pain away that day. Can't begin to tell you how painfully self-conscious I feel getting photographed. Ellen is wonderful to work with! Check out some of her vibrant, life-affirming work:

AND she builds SquareSpace websites, too!

OK, ciao ciao for nao~

PS congratulations to the new parents and the surviving parents and those with pandemic puppies and kitties who are growing up and those who have graduated and those who left the Earth in this time and those who are still here in this uber togetherness.

PPS Please do vote. This from a recovering "it doesn't really matter, does it?" former non-voter. Yeesh.

PPSS Just needed to end on a different note. Let's go back to puppies to finish this one off fondly.
