The vision is one of joyful and connected people who care for each other and our earth. They've created 21 Community Gardens with over 800 tenant gardeners across Melbourne and run a number of community food projects from the Fitzroy Food Hub. These spaces provide opportunities for communities to access healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food, while connecting with each other, learning skills, and sharing cultures.
During the pandemic, Cultivating Community mobilised as part of the Moving Feast collaboration to create food relief responses while also planning for a rejuvenated food system.
We're talking to Rob Rees about fostering and empowering communities through food, and why the knowledge, connectedness, and agility of local food organisations are so important to food system resilience.

If you want to be part of transforming our food system and supporting solidarity economies, small-scale farmers, and food sovereignty, being an AFSA member is a great way to start. It is our members who provide the mandate and the support for the work we do to advocate for everyone's right to decide their own food system. If you're not a member yet, you can join us here.
