GMN Newsletter September 2020

Hi Everyone!

Thanks again for signing up to the Grassroots Music Network and welcome to our new subscribers. We're glad you've joined the community.

We've been working behind the scenes to make the information on the website as easy as possible to search and digest as possible. We've streamlined some of the information into lists which you can now easily convert into PDF documents so you can print and use offline.

Now we need your help. We want to create some Case Studies highlighting how you went about doing things. How did you musicians go about publicising your gigs?  What new recording techniques were used to record work during lockdown?  How did managers manage your artists when they could not perform live?  How did the artists that produce album art get their work noticed? And because the GMN is not just for artists but for anyone working in Grassroots music we'd love to know were you able to do to keep the momentum going with your music-related activities in the absence of live music?

What were some really good ideas that worked for you? What were some really bad ideas you'd tell people to avoid? Everyone is different but there are some common obstacles that we all face, and your advice will really help others. If you don't have a case study yourself perhaps you could recommend someone we could contact?

So please get in contact with us at casestudy@grassrootsmuscicnetwork.org. We don't need the case study to be in a specific format as each one will be different, but we would ask that you give as much information as possible.

Don't forget that we are still looking for recommendations for Connections/Resources and links to any Reports/Books that you think might be useful to the GMN community. You  can submit your recommendations at both the web links above. We also have a Forum which anyone can post information, requests, situations vacant, or any topic you like.

If you have a useful Tip then why not tell us: tipoftheweek@grassrootsmuscicnetwork.org and we may use it in our Tip Of The Week section on the website.

The GMN is free to use and be a member of.  We’re a place for learning and collaboration.  We’re not a platform just for advertising. There are other places for this. We are a network working to help one another. We’re not an organisation designed to represent certain people. We are complementary to, not competing with professional membership bodies such as AIM, Musicians Union. We want to learn from experiences from all over the world. We’re not just focused on the UK.

Stay safe,
Sue, Neil and Pete.

Have you read our Tip Of The Week? This is where we suggest useful hints and tips on how to do things. If you have a tip that you'd like to share then please tell us HERE.
