Program Director's Corner: National Day of Civic Hacking on Sept. 12

Code for Tampa Bay Brigade is an affiliate of the national Code for America organization, which supports civic tech opportunities across the country. Tampa Bay is fortunate to have our own Brigade, which meets right here in Tampa, and often at AMRoC Fab Lab. The group is comprised of citizens who volunteer their technical, design, problem solving and community organizing skills to help local government and nonprofits better serve their communities.
For this year’s National Day of Civic Hacking event, held virtually on September 12, Code for Tampa Bay Brigade has partnered with AMRoC Fab Lab on a project to develop a Rapid Response Network volunteer platform modeled on our work with MRG 3D. The platform is intended to serve as a Distributed Community Factory helping produce and distribute needed supplies like PPE, machined parts, and other parts and equipment during emergencies.
If you have coding and development skills, please join in! If you enjoy community organizing, please join in! If your skills align more with communications and marketing, please join in! If you believe in the power of community to help the community, please join in! This is a virtual event, but a social one and all are welcome.

CMMC requirements start in January 2021 and the CMMC model has been proposed as the standard for doing business with other Federal Agencies. Join us to learn what CMMC is and how to prepare for an audit.

AMRoC & eSmart's Recycling Drive
Starts: 9/26/20 10am - 1pm
Cost: Free
One old computer in your life can change the life of someone else – in this case a child without access to technology. On September 26, eSmart Recycling and AMRoC Fab Lab team up for an e-waste drive to recycle computers and old technology to help empower kids and families in our community. It's the perfect time to clear out your office, garage, or closet and recycle anything with a battery, a plug, or a switch to support our community. Contactless drop off behind AMRoC Fab Lab, and robot demos, recycled art displays and AMRoC tours inside the mall.

A grateful shout out this week to Mr. Devante Robinson for his great mentoring support at last week’s finance session for our Equity in Entrepreneurship group. Devante has served as an independent claims adjuster-apprentice and adjuster with several companies during catastrophic storms Michael, Irma, and Dorian, and more recently Hurricane Laura, in Lousiana. He actually called in from LA to speak to the class! He has also worked on daily residential claims to including field, fast track adjusting, and desk/file review. Devante has also just completed the Georgetown MSF Program Summer Clinic at Savills. Thank you, Devante, for taking time out of an incredibly busy schedule to support our early stage entrepreneurs with the benefit of your experience and expertise
