Kids
In the playgroup workshops that we organized four days a week during August with two separate groups between the ages of 3-6, we focused on activities to support the cognitive development of children. We worked on children’s ability to concentrate and listen by reading books together and interpreting the images in these books. Additionally, we made binoculars out of waste materials in order to support their motor development. You can enlarge the photo to get a closer look at the binoculars and contact us if you would like to learn how to do one!

What would you like to change if you had a magic wand?:

We asked this question during the interviews, we did within the scope of the “Access to Rights of Children in Different Settlements of Istanbul during the COVID-19 Process Research'' we are conducting with support from Etkiniz EU programme. The intention of our question is to connect with children’s situation and we share the responses we get under #SözÇocukta (kids have the say) on our social media accounts in order to make their voices and needs visible. You can click here to read all the answers, you can also share your answers with us by sending them to iletisim@tarlabasi.org!

The Incredible Freedom Machines uses a poetic style to tell a child’s search for her own freedom machine and then the discoveries she made with her machine. This all ages book is published by Hippo Kitap, written by Kirli Saunders, illustrated by Matt Ottley and translated by Lora Sarı.
Coraline is a 2009 animation based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name where we watch 11-year-old Coraline discover her life in a parallel reality and her adventures in this strange new world.
TTM Volunteer
On August 22, we carried out our IV. online volunteer meeting where we shared the ways we deal with the new normal, the situation of schools and uncertainty.

“More accurate things about the disease should be told. When you don’t know something you get upset and become afraid.”*

With support from Sivil Düşün, we have started preparations for an informative animation to ensure that children have access to correct information about the epidemic and the normalization process and to support their coping mechanisms for uncertainty! We aim to distribute the animation next month.

* From the needs analysis done to find out what children want to see in the animation.
