Labor Day, which was today, marks the unofficial end of summer here in Michigan. The weather doesn't always change right away, but this year, it's already starting to feel like fall. While today's temperature reached 78° F / 25° C, the high tomorrow is only 66° F / 19° C. I'm planning fall knits and digging out my sweaters. I actually wore this one on a bike ride to the pet store the other day.

I have been working hard to bring you my debut garment pattern for months now. I'm especially excited for the start of sweater weather this year because that means the time has finally come to share it! It's amazing how much more involved the process is than publishing an accessory pattern.

I first conceived of this design last fall, swatched in November, did all the calculations in early spring, knit the sample, photographed it back in April, worked with a tech editor for the first time through April and May, and finally had it tested from May through last week! Phew! (By contrast, a sock pattern takes me about 4-6 weeks, including test knitting.)

So, finally, I present Strikethrough.

Strikethrough is a top-down, circular yoke sweater knit in two colors of fingering weight yarn without body shaping. It features two-color brioche stripes.

If you haven't tried brioche before, this is a great project for those new to the technique. Two-color brioche is surprisingly simple to work—you only hold one strand of yarn at a time—and I find it meditative.

To quote one of my fantastic test knitters (fae713 - see her project on Ravelry here): "Highly recommend this as an entry level sweater for a knitter who wants a bit of patterning for the yoke, but not quite ready to brave shaping. Brioche is not as scary as it looks and you get into a nice rhythm with it."

Sizing

Strikethrough is size inclusive and comes in a range of 8 sizes to fit busts from 30 to 60 inches / 76 to 152 cm with 2-4 inches / 5-10 cm of positive ease.

It is pictured here in a size 2 on a 36 in / 91.4 cm bust with 2 in / 5 cm of positive ease.

Some of my testers knit their versions with more than the recommended ease and they look so cozy! Head on over to Ravelry to check out their projects.
