The Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC) has welcomed $200,000 in funding support from the Queensland State Government Department of Employment and Small Business to undertake a Reset and Recovery with Impact project across three key regional areas: Far North Queensland, Central Queensland and Western Darling Downs regions.
The Reset and Recovery with Impact project intends to employ three regional activators to help locate established and emerging social enterprises, coordinate a stakeholder mapping exercise and gather education resources to respond directly to the needs of those communities. A series of workshops for social enterprises will be run by activators in the regions with the support of local anchor institutions (universities, organisations and councils) to build sector capacity.
Supported by sector partners: Social Traders, Griffith University’s Yunus Centre and Central Queensland University (CQUni), QSEC intends to undertake the project using an “action lab” approach, which will culminate in a design thinking process conducted by CQUni to focus in on collaborative regional economic solutions.
