Shakuhachi Live Stream

Greetings.
This is the first time since early 2018 that I've sent anything to you, or to any of the other patient people on my mailing list. That was a long time ago, but right now it seems even longer! I hope that you are keeping well, no easy feat right now.
I am writing to let you know that the people at Insight Timer have asked me to do a series of Live Streams, for which I feel very honoured. My goal with these events is to help make these trying times a tiny bit less so.
Thus far, I've scheduled two events in a series of at least ten sessions. Both of the first two Live Streams will be mostly music, but I will also include some explanation. Duration for both sessions is 30 minutes.
These Live Events on Insight Timer are free.
I've scheduled the first two at different times of the day. I hope that at least one of the sessions will suit your time zone and schedule..
There will be eight more Live Streams after these. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, or any requests for music, talks, meditations that you'd like me to consider for future sessions. I'm also open to doing future events at different times and on different days of the week. Let me know if you have any preference.
Finally, I imagine that some of you may not want to be on my mailing list any more. Please let me know if that is the case, by unsubscribing. Thanks.
Cheers, Riley |

One Sound Becoming Buddha
Most shakuhachi players know the expression Ichi On Jōbutsu. My favourite interpretation is "One Sound Becoming Enlightened". In this Live session, I'll explain what that means, and how best to listen to such a glorious sound. But mostly, I'll be performing for you on my simple bamboo flute. |

Meditating on the music of Hildegard of Bingen.
Hildegard of Bingen (German: Hildegard von Bingen; Latin: Hildegardis Bingensis; 1098 – 1179), was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath. In other words, an amazing woman! I feel that much of her music was made for the shakuhachi. |
