Issue #3 - September 8th, 2020
Dear Friends,

Greetings and Christ's peace to you! As we emerge from the Northern Hemisphere's summer months, we hope that you have had some time for the rest and refreshment of holidays and retreat, and that you feel energized and ready for the work in the months ahead. Just as Jesus sought to withdraw with the disciples for time to take stock of all that the Father was accomplishing through them, we too need to maintain this discipline of Sabbath for ourselves and our teams. We know that these days of constant change and disruption can leave us feeling depleted and frustrated, and that the inability to plan for the future can lead to a sense of powerlessness. Since we often cannot change our external circumstances, then in order to remain agile, flexible, and capable of adaptation, we must manage ourselves. I hope that you will find the attached article from the New York Times an inspiration for cultivating the kind of inner resilience, openness, and nimbleness these times call for. The author provides practical ways of enhancing this inner freedom and agility which I hope that you find encouraging and helpful.

Please keep our participants in the upcoming two Discerning Leadership cohorts in your prayers!

Gratefully,

David and the Discerning Leadership Team

How to cope when everything keeps changing

"How do you make plans when it’s impossible to make plans?". With this sentence, Cindy Lamothe starts a brilliant article in the New York Times about adapting to the new reality where "the ground beneath our feet is constantly shifting".
