North Austin Reservoir and
Pump Station Improvements

Sunshine Drive Traffic Alert
To accommodate installation of a new stormwater line, Sunshine Drive will be closed to traffic between Koenig Ln. and Stark Dr. beginning Sept. 8.  The street will be closed nightly from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. The work is expected to take about two weeks to complete.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or other factors. This work is part of the North Austin Reservoir and Pump Station Improvements project. Please check the project page at austintexas.gov/nareservoir for updates.
North Lamar Traffic Alert

Beginning Friday, September 11, N. Lamar between Denson Dr. and W. Koenig Ln. will be reduced to two lanes. A traffic shift will divert southbound traffic to use one of the northbound lanes. The center turn lane will also be closed to traffic.

A contractor working for Austin Water will be replacing a large water valve. The lane closures are needed due to the location of the valve. The work is scheduled to begin during evening hours of September 11 and could take up to three days to complete. The traffic shift will be in place around the clock during the work.

During the work, local traffic can access Old Koenig Ln. from Koenig Ln. to access residences and businesses along Old Koenig Ln. Access to Old Koenig Ln. from Lamar will be closed.  Please use caution when driving in this area.

About the Project:
The North Austin Reservoir, located near North Lamar Blvd and Koenig Lane, was built in 1913. The reservoir stores potable water to maintain sufficient volume to provide to customers in this area. The reservoir has exceeded its useful life and it is time to build a new modern reservoir and pump station to improve reliability of the water distribution system. For more information visit: austintexas.gov/nareservoir.

Project Funding:
This project is partially funded with Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) funding through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). DWSRF funding is administered through the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB – DWSRF Project No. 62854)
