Memorial Garden
Many of you may have noticed the planting happening at the traffic circle on Madison and 17th Street. The origin of this neighborhood garden project is to provide an enduring tribute to Anthony Fimple, our 19-year-old neighbor who was a victim of a terrible homicide in June 2020. The garden will be visible to his surviving family from their front door. Neighbors working on the project intend to include a simple, small carved memorial stone in the garden.
The garden has been designed utilizing plants that are native to our area, are low maintenance and no taller than 30” per city policy.
If you would like to donate to the project you can send your donation to Jan Gallegher at 1715 Madison Street, La Crosse WI 54601.

2021 WHNA election postponed
Covid 19 has required our neighborhood association to make many changes. We are no longer able to meet face-to-face, so plans for our general meetings were put on hold and our board meetings are now virtual. In September we plan to start a series of zoom meetings each month with speakers we planned to have at this year’s meetings . Unfortunately, our planned January election of association officers has been postponed. Recruiting members for board officers at this time is almost impossible and we currently do not have a way to vote online. So…the current board officers and members at large have agreed to serve an additional year and have their terms end in 2022 for officers and 2023 for members at large. We believe this will provide stability for the association and we look forward to being able to meet in person in 2021 to recruit new folks to run for the board.
