FL Turn Blue!

TONIGHT!
Tuesday (9/8) at 7 PM

Regular Monthly Meeting
The Democratic Club of Bonita Springs and South Lee County
---> Zoom Invite <---

Incumbent Democrat Jessica Cosden and Volunteer Organizer Wally Hedman
Of course
I should have asked someone to edit this before sending it at the last moment,
without chaging the day.

The Day is Today.
Seize it!
Come to our Zoom Meeting Tonight at 7 PM
Link Below.

Jessica Cosden is an incumbent Democrat on the Cape Coral City Council.

Cape Coral, like all of SW Florida, was simultaneously overwhelmed by kBrevis, the deadly toxin from Red Tide, and cyanotoxin, the deadly toxin from Blue-Green Algae.

With hundreds of miles of canals, Cape Coral an epicenter. It was almost impossible to tell where which toxin was coming from.  Mammals, fish and shore birds died on our beaches..

The Atlantic warned our county's electeds in stories like "Blue-Green Algae: Iridescent but Deadly," in September, 2012.

In August, 2018, the News-Press was running articles like:  "Fort Myers, Cape Coral at center of two water quality tragedies – red tide and blue-green algal bloom."

Now, the toxins are back!

This time is different.
There is not so much that we are overwhelmed.
We still have our senses about us.

Jessica will be sharing her recent experience and explaining what our electeds need to do.

Jessica is running for re-election to the Cape Coral City Council.
This year, in a Presidential election year, we hear about "down ballot" candidates.
These are the people who make decisions affecting our daily lives.
We need Joe and Kamala in Washington and
we need Jessica in Cape Coral.

Jessica Cosden needs our help.
Please, come to the Zoom meeting tonight.
Listen to Jessica.  And, listen to veteran Democratic organizer Wally Hedman.
If you choose, help Jessica and the Democrats hold our seat on the Cape Coral City Council.

Demand action from our electeds and VOTE!

Here are some facts about our Right to Vote in Lee County.

November 3.

That is the date certain around which all else revolves for the election of Democrats for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency, the US Senate, the US House of Representatives, Florida statehouse seats, Lee County seats, Ft. Myers seats, Capre Coral Seats, Bonita Springs seats, mosquito control board seats - well, you get the idea.  There is a lot at stake - the future of our country - the health and wealth of ourselves.

Some dates precede Nov. 3, like early voting, and some dates follow Nov. 3, like the date by which vote-by-mail ballots must be received from voters overseas, such as the brave members of our forces, public and private (armed, covert, building a new life, or just hanging out) in foreign lands.

Verify what you hear about voting by checking information on the SOE’s website.  It is easy to recognize the website by a graphic that looks like this:
The numbers have been updated to reflect the number of active registered voters.

Courage!
It takes pride in entitlement to the Right to Vote to be a Democrat in Lee County!

Info Direct from the Supervisor of Elections.

I don't want to suppress anyone's right to vote by giving you incorrect information, so I am providing links to information that is on the SOE's website at Lee.Vote.  (That's it, just lee.vote)

You might want to save this in case your Democratic friends and neighbors want accurate information about exercising their Constitutional right to vote.

Only 5 votes per precinct kept Bill Nelson from returning to the US Senate and, similarly, kept Andrew Gillum from being Florida's governor today.

Accurate information is essential.

As the Supervisor of Elections (sometimes pursuant to court order) may make changes that affect your right to vote, be sure to get up-to-the-date information from the SOE at lee.vote

Vote-by-Mail

Vote-by-Mail ballot requests must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the Saturday 10 days prior to the election. (Florida Statute 106.62)

Vote-by-Mail ballots are NOT forwarded by USPS.  Make sure that the SOE has the address where you need to receive your Vote-by-Mail ballot.

As the SOE says:
"Vote-by-Mail ballots are initially mailed approximately thirty-five days before an election. If your mail is being forwarded to another address during this time, your Vote-by-Mail ballot will be returned to our office."

If time is running out, you may be able to have someone personally pick up ballot(s) for you, overnight them to you, and return them to the SOE.

https://lee.electionsfl.org/Vote-by-Mail/Vote-by-Mail-Information/Picking-up-a-Vote-by-Mail-Ballot says:

"Picking up a Vote-by-Mail Ballot
If time constraints prohibit a timely delivery of a Vote-by-Mail ballot, a voter may pick up a ballot in the Main Office.

A voter may choose, with an "Affidavit to Pick-up a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for a Voter" or a written notice, someone else to pick-up their ballot no sooner than 9 days prior to an election, and no later than 5:00 pm on the day before the election. (Florida Statute 101.62(4)(c)4.)

A "written notice" must include the name of the person picking up the ballot and their relation to the voter, along with
the voter's:

Name
Signature
Date of birth
Address
Affidavit to Pick-up a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for a Voter (English PDF)
Declaración Jurada Para Recoger una Boleta Para Votar Por Correo (Español PDF)

A person may only pick up two Vote-by-Mail ballots per election that are not for themselves OR their immediate family.

On Election Day, pick-up ballots may only be obtained in the event of an emergency. Regardless of who is picking up the ballot, an Emergency Affidavit must be completed.

Declaración Jurada para Recibir la Boleta de Votacion por Correo el Día De Las Elecciones (Español PDF)"

To check on your voter registration and to find out about your particular ballot, go to: https://lee.electionsfl.org/Admin/Check-my-Registration-Status.

So you can be prepared when you actually vote, it is a good idea to examine a sample ballot for your precinct.

Sample ballots will be available, sometime, at:
https://lee.electionsfl.org/Admin/Check-my-Registration-Status.

(That's the same place where you can verify your voter registration.)

Watch for more updates and other information about voting.

The more I hear about voter suppression elsewhere, the more proud I am of our own SOE!

Be sure to verify voting information on the SOE website at lee.vote
