ATLANTA (Sept. 9, 2020) — National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) CEO John W. Robitscher, MPH, announced today that Tamika Smith, MBA, MS has been promoted to Senior Director of Project Management (PMO) & Member Services. She joins CEO Robitscher, Marti Macchi, Senior Director of Programs, and Hope Harris, Human Resources Director, on NACDD’s Senior Management Team.

“Tamika has proven to be a solid leader in this organization, exemplifying the finest attributes of teamwork, planning, and excellence. Tamika puts others first and has shown tremendous thought and aptitude for moving the Association toward team-based project management,” Robitscher said.

Smith has held a variety of positions with NACDD since she joined the Association in 2011. She has successfully directed Member engagement and project management for the Association and is leading the efforts to improve technology processes. Her role includes overseeing NACDD projects, programs, and services, including helping to plan project resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and regular reporting to staff and partners on the status of project deliverables. She also creates and executes strategies and procedures to ensure Member satisfaction and retention.

Smith also has been an integral part of establishing the Association’s Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) Alliance to advance NACDD’s leadership in support of racial equity and social justice work in the public health sector.

“It is a pleasure to take on this new challenge and responsibility with the Association,” Smith said. “Knowing that the work you are producing is meaningful and valued amongst your leadership and peers is a great feeling. I look forward to continuing to expand on the project management infrastructure to support success in meeting our program and project objectives. My work in Member Services will also continue to focus on delivering best-in-class service to our Members through the foundational pillars of research, engagement, analysis, and innovation.”

In addition to her work duties, Smith serves as Chair of the NACDD IT Governance Board, which oversees internal IT processes and procedures and is Chair of NACDD’s Employee Recognition Committee, which works to acknowledge and promote positive behaviors that support individuals, teams, and departments in achieving NACDD’s Mission, Vision, and values.

Smith recently was honored with NACDD’s “CEO Award,” which the CEO gives annually to an outstanding employee who exemplifies excellence, dedication, collaboration, and integrity, and who has made a substantial and long-lasting impact on the Association.

“Tamika is a lifelong learner who is generous in sharing her expertise with others while also fostering an environment that gives everyone a voice,” Robitscher said. “I am looking forward to seeing how her creativity and leadership continues to transform the Association.”
