WORDS OF COMFORT & ENCOURAGEMENT

CONNECTING OUR EPWORTH CHURCH FAMILY THROUGH DAILY DEVOTIONS

Submitted by Carolyn Williams

Recently I went to CVS Pharmacy on Branchview to purchase over-the-counter Pepcid Complete. Since the beginning of the virus, CVS now has two drive-thru services:  one for prescriptions and testing and one for over-the-counter items.  I told the clerk what I wanted, and then sent the cash for the item thru the tube.  The return tube included a wrinkled plastic bag.  When I removed the bag it came open and the contents fell to the pavement.  It was then necessary to move my car so that I could open the door and get out to retrieve the medicine and my change.  I found the money right away, but had to search for the medicine.  Wouldn’t you just know, I had run over the medicine and besides that it wasn’t what I ordered.

Frustrated?  You bet!!!  It was difficult to remain calm, serene and gentle. I parked my car and entered CVS totally frustrated.  However, the young woman who assisted me in solving the problem was very understanding and   helpful in resolving the problem.

I was reminded of the scripture: Philippians 4:13: “I can do everything  through him who gives me strength”.

Quoting from the Life Application Study Bible: “Can we really do everything?   The power we receive in union with Christ is sufficient to do his will and to face the challenges that arise from our commitment to doing it. “
