14th SEPTEMBER 2020

Dear Real Life Family,

By the time you are reading this Ps Clare and I will have already commenced three weeks annual leave. We feel very privileged to be able to travel within Queensland to holiday when so many people are locked down in COVID and not even really free to leave their homes.

Rest is a gift from God. It is a key part of the "Shalom" characteristic of his kingdom. "Shalom" is a Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility. All of these words describe the reality of God's kingdom and what finding real life in relationship with him can bring. Seasons of rest to renew and re-calibrate our lives are important in ensuring we live from that place of God's shalom. I  hope that as school holidays approach that you and your family are able to find greater measures of rest and renewal - even if that is simply a change of pace - and know God's shalom more deeply.

Here are the details of staff taking leave over the next few weeks:
  • Pastor Adam - Beginning Monday 14 September. Returning Wednesday 7 October.
  • Pastor Clare - Beginning Monday 14 September. Returning Wednesday 7 October.
  • Angela - Beginning Monday 21 September. Returning Tuesday 6 October.
Don't forget that we have a new Service Streaming time starting this Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm. We hope some Missional Communities will form around this service over the coming weeks.

I hope you enjoy the information below...

Each week a different member of the church staff team organises a Monday Moment video that may cover a range of thoughts, reflections, encouragements and insights on daily life and the ministry across the church.

This week Rene, our Children's Ministry Department Leader, shares some thoughts.
We trust these Monday Moments are a blessing to you!

Here is some important news about some recent Blue card changes from Rosemary Robinson. As from 31st August, there were significant changes relating to Blue card applications:

1) ID required for a Blue Card application is now a certified copy of either a Drivers License, Proof of Age card, Photo identification card, Motorcycle license or Marine License. We can no longer view ID cards and sign the photocopies ourselves.

If you do not have any of the above you will need to visit a Transport Motor Registry Service Centre to have your photo taken and obtain a Customer Reference Number. There is no cost for this service.

Certification can be by Justice of the Peace, Commissioner of Declarations, Lawyer or Police Officer. This is the only form of identification that will be accepted.

2) If you hold an Exemption card (Teachers and Police personnel) you will need to apply for a new card now and this will need to be renewed every three years.

3) If your Blue card has been issued by another organisation/employer, you will have to link into our organisation if you haven’t already done so. You will need to contact us to do this as we now do the link in and will have to sight your Blue Card.

Over the school holiday break we have a short message series called "GOOD NEWS" being preached and we are blessed to have a range of speakers contributing. I encourage you to continue meeting in Missional Communities and Life Groups to encourage one another, pray with and for one another, and to challenge one another.

The writer of Hebrews expresses this instruction to the church he is addressing:

"24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
(Hebrews 10:24-25)

May you know the great blessing of community week.

Shalom,
