General Manager's Message

Dear Members,
I hope that you are all well.
Thank you everyone for your patience over the last few months while construction has been occurring at the Club.
You will be happy to know that the lower car park resurfacing project, boatyard fencing & pathway project and the new Clubhouse roof project have all been completed. Full details here.

Sydney Olympics 2000

This week marks 20 years since the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
RPAYC had a large representation of members who gave their time on the water both inshore & offshore with a team of 35 volunteers. Congratulations to all involved, CLICK HERE for a few pictures from the archives and more information. 

Member Notice

Maintenance & Line Marking Car Parks and Crystal Bay Hardstand
The Club wishes to notify Members of maintenance and re-line marking that will take place, weather permitting, within the middle car park, top car park and Crystal Bay Hardstand.

Boatyard Message

Boatyard Summer Bookings, Work Berths & Tenant Services
The Club wishes to advise our members that your Boatyard is extremely busy and is currently booked out until mid November. If you are wanting your boat ready for those all important Christmas and summer school holidays make sure you get your reservation in soon in order to avoid missing out.

Club Face Masks

Due to popular demand, the second shipment of club branded RPAYC face masks have arrived. 
These masks come with a PM2.5 filter and are machine washable. They are available to purchase from reception for $20, while stocks last.

CENTREBOARD NEWS

 

Bubble Cup 2020

Introducing the RPAYC Centreboard Bubble Cup 2020. Created by the Centreboard Committee, the Bubble Cup came about due to the fact that no one can currently travel and all major events have been cancelled. Run over the October Long Weekend (3 & 4 October), the event is open to all centreboard boats both members & visitors provided they live within the region. The NOR is currently being finalised with more details and online entries and information available soon.

Harken Summer Centreboard Series

Harken are proudly supporting the Centreboard 2020-2021 Summer Centreboard Season and kitting out all competitors with a Club Team Shirt & race vest. Please submit your order below by September 27 - CLICK HERE.

Club Champs Round 1 

Round 1 of the 2020-2021 Centreboard Club Championship saw a great turnout with 35 boats racing across the 2 course areas in a light and fading breeze. The race committees on both courses did a fantastic job getting up to 3 races completed for each class.

YACHTING NEWS

 

Short Ocean Pointscore (SOPS)

Race 1 of SOPS is this Saturday and for the first time in approx 10 years we will have 2 divisions with multiple scoring options including PHS; IRC and ORCi.
The Short Ocean Pointscore Series (SOPS) offers competitors the experience of offshore day sailing with a mixture of windward/leeward and passage courses between Terrigal and Sydney. 

Women's Twilight

Only 6 weeks to go until the 2020-21 Women's Twilight! Racing kicks off on Tuesday 27 October and finishes Tuesday 16 March. Held fortnightly with only 1 male allowed on board, this is a fantastic series and one not to be missed. For more details and to enter online click HERE.

SheSails for RPAYC

RPAYC will be represented at this year’s SheSails Open Regatta hosted by Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club and scheduled for November 28-29, by Nicole Butcher, Lisa Ratcliff and Lauren Crossman. More details HERE.

Racing Saturday 26 September

2 events on Saturday 26 September.
1) Sprints for Asymmetric Yachts - Up to 4 windward/leeward races for yachts exclusively running Asymmetric spinnakers. Entry & NOR are online CLICK HERE. Start time 1200hrs.
2) Trophy Race -  Open to all yachts, racing will be around cans, Pittwater & the Estuary.

Reminder NOR 19.4

NOR 19.  PROHIBITED WATER (WHICH RANKS AS AN OBSTRUCTION).
Competitors are reminded of NOR 19.4 - Race participants shall maintain a minimum distance of 200 metres from all islands, headlands and charted hazards when operating in open waters during a sailing event. This is not protestable by a boat. Changes RRS 60.1
 

2020/21 Handbook

REMINDER - The 2020/21 Sailing Handbook is available online, alternatively copies of the printed A5 version are available to purchase from Reception.  Due to the current COVID restrictions, all events scheduled in September are classified as non-pointscore.

CRUISING NEWS

Estuary Race Cruise
19 September

Our first Race Cruise is on Saturday 19 September with a pursuit start commencing with the first boats at 10:00am. We will race to a finish line at Challenger Head followed by an overnight stay at Hallets Beach. We also challenge other club members to join us for this race even if you choose not to stay overnight. To enter you will need to fill in a simple "One Minute Form" which can be found here, along with details of the race.

First Friday - 2 October Weather Routing

Our next Friday dinner is Friday, 2 October. 
Halyards from 6pm, dinner will be served at 7pm sharp. Post dinner, our Weather Routing Seminar will be held in the Pittwater Room. Last bookings by 5pm Wednesday 30 September.

Windsurfer Usage

A reminder to members, that the 6 x LT Windsurfers are available for lease to RPAYC Members on a per session basis for the purpose of racing or training at RPAYC. The steps to lease are: 1) submit the lease form (CLICK HERE to download the form), 2) pay the relevant fee, and 3) return all equipment post session (within office hours). Boards must not be removed from the cage without a submitted form and approval. 

Halvorsen Lease Scheme

The Halvorsen Lease Scheme is exclusive to members of RPAYC who are registered in a training course. The scheme offers a simple pathway from Tackers 3  through to our Green Fleet program by offering the opportunity to lease a boat before purchasing your own. CLICK HERE for details.
