For information about our planned services in September, including clarifications on 'Test and Trace', please visit our website using the link above. From the website you can also print out the service sheet or download it in a format suitable to read on your phone or tablet. Happy Birthday Brett

Youth Update

I am thrilled to announce that Engage and Encrypt are returning after six long months!
We have an exciting programme planned with dynamic activities, engaging teaching and the opportunity to build closer relationships through chatting, chilling and prayer.
Please put the following dates into your diaries:
Encrypt (yr.10-13) will resume on Monday 21 September
Engage (yr.6-9) will resume on Thursday 24 September.
Both groups will then run on those same days during term time between 7:45pm (with doors opening at 7:30pm) and 8:30pm. We have moved from The Tiger and shall now meet in the church.
Year 6s are very welcome to join Engage this year if they so wish. However, they are also very welcome to stick with our kids programme!

Please click here to go our YouTube channel and watch Engage & Encrypt – we’re back! to get full details of the changes. This is especially important for any young people wishing to attend, as I’ll talk through the guidelines we have to meet and explain what they mean practically.
If anyone has any queries then please drop me a line at jonny.payne@lindfield.info

Finally, please pray:
·       For our wonderful youth team as they give up time to serve our young people. Pray that they would be blessed with energy and show our young people what it is to live out the gospel
·       For our equally wonderful young people, that they would be engaged by what we’re doing, inspired by the teaching and equipped to serve Jesus in their homes and schools
·       That we would be able to reach those young people who do not love Jesus, show them the truth of the gospel and see them added to the body of Christ.

News from Women Together

For any of you who are new to Women Together, we are women of all ages and stages in our faith, that meet occasionally through the year to build supportive friendships, to learn from each other through testimony and teaching and to reach out to women in our community.
There is no programme yet for this year to allow for changing guidelines.
However, at the start of a new term we are really glad to be back with a testimony for our encouragement.
We are grateful that Carmen Payne (married to Jonny, our youth pastor) has agreed to share her story of the last few years. Carmen has been through a period of big changes and will be sharing around this theme.
The interview will be pre-recorded, but we would like to offer two occasions when we can listen to it together on zoom and break out into smaller groups for some discussion.
For now, put one of the following times in your diary, and then watch this space for further details: Wednesday 30 September at 10.00am and Saturday 3 October at 7.30pm.
If you prefer to listen in your own time or if it's helpful to share it with a friend we will make the recording available the following week.

Family Support Work (FSW) Food Donation Box – new location

As a church we support FSW – a Christian Sussex-based charity helping families to overcome their difficulties and prevent crisis. At the moment, their need is great, especially for food donations to their food bank.
We have decided to relocate the food donation box to the porch at church. If you would like to donate non-perishable food items, please leave them in the box between 9.00-5.00pm Monday to Friday or on Sundays. Items will be collected safely and regularly.
If you would like to know more about FSW and how you can support the charity in other ways, please speak to Vic Donougher or Victoria Hersey – we really do appreciate all your help.

Friends of Kagando Hydro face mask fundraising

One of our partners in mission, Friends of Kagando, has produced face masks to raise money for the Hydro-Electric project. The Hydro project is aiming to raise £900,000 to provide a Hydro-Electric scheme, which will bring clean, reliable energy to Kagando and provide a sustainable income from sales of excess energy.
The masks are washable and reusable and can be obtained from Helen Tuddenham (helentuddenham@aol.com) for a donation – suggested amount is £10. The donation can be paid through the Friends of Kagando Just Giving page or through a cheque/cash sent to Helen. Thank you for your support.

Bike for Bibles Update

Andrew Nunn is very grateful to those who have sponsored him for his 100 miles cycle ride, Biking for Bibles, in support of the Bible Society on Saturday 19 September. He has passed his original £1,000 target so has raised it to £1,500. Here is the link to his Just Giving web page for those who might still be interested in giving.

This week's Mission Partner Focus: Five Talents

Five Talents is an Anglican microfinance charity working in marginalised communities of the world.  Supporters invest in enterprising individuals through literacy courses, business training and village savings. This ‘hand-up’ rather than a ‘hand-out’ is creating jobs and transforms lives among the poor in twelve countries.

Give thanks and praise for:
  • Success of the Radio 4 appeal with Sandi Toksvig in July which so far has raised £20,000 in donations and people signing-up to receive the Prayer Network emails.
  • Work of Sue Johns, director of fund raising, who is retiring in November.
  • For the FT trainers including tailor-made and inclusive COVID-19 crisis plans and act upon them. The idea of having a COVID-19 plan would encourage every Group and members to play the role of being one another’s keeper and to reach out to the relevant structures such as the local administration, health and churches for updated information and assistance.”

Pray for:
  • A champion match funder to come forward as the Five Talents team prepare for the Christmas Big Give. This year funds will be raised for a partnership expansion with the Mothers' Union into 14 new Dioceses in Tanzania
  • Wisdom for Sue Johns as she becomes the non-executive chair of Chair of Five Talents International - the overarching body that draws its membership from all three country Boards (Kenya, USA and UK).
