The DocumentCloud Beta has a ton of updates. Give it a try!

Over the past year, we've been re-architecting DocumentCloud to get it ready for the next decade of document analysis, archiving, and publishing. The result: The DocumentCloud Beta, which has now successfully processed 357,729 and 1,950,245 pages. Why should you upgrade?
  • Faster processing: All documents process in less than a minute, no matter how long they are (even thousands of pages) or how many other documents are in the queue from other users.
  • Increased stability: We've worked hard to create a more stable backend with reduced downtime and quicker fixes when there are problems.
  • Mobile friendly: Redact, add notes, pinch to zoom, and more all work more fluidly on mobile devices, so even if you're uploading a PDF from your phone, you can highlight key elements and share out what readers need to know.
It also offers a more powerful API, higher-resolution documents, and overhauled search that allows fuzzy matching, advanced queries, and much more. We've got even more exciting features and updates coming in the next few weeks.

Want to kick the tires before the upgrade? Have questions about how it works? Need to delay any changes? We're here to make this as painless an upgrade process as possible, so check out our update on what you need to know to get your newsroom a test account, how to have your upgrade pushed to the front of the line, as well as the current limitations of the DocumentCloud Beta.
  • If your newsroom already uses DocumentCloud and you’d like some users to have access to the Beta for testing and evaluation purposes, email us with the subject line “Beta Access.”
  • If your newsroom already uses DocumentCloud and you’re ready to migrate your entire newsroom to the new platform, including old documents, email us with the subject line “Beta Migration.”
  • If you’d like to delay your migration until at least a certain date, fill out this form as soon as possible and our team will note your delay request as well as offer any support we can to help you prepare.
Note that the DocumentCloud Beta uses a different account, so you won't be able to log in until you've been flagged for access and then you'll have a separate account and password until you migrate your old documents over.

Webinar: Reporting more critically on police misinformation

Misinformation and disinformation originating from law enforcement sources, which has lately included Antifa raids, brick piles, poisoned milkshakes and more, has sparked considerable interest in the past few months. But journalists who cover the police say this is common — even the rule.

MisinfoCon is partnering with MuckRock to host a webinar for journalists and others interested in better ways to deal with this kind of dis- and misinformation.

Help us kick the tires on an updated WordPress plugin!

To enable a smooth transition, we've updated the DocumentCloud WordPress plugin to work with both DocumentCloud Legacy and DocumentCloud Beta. If you currently use WordPress and DocumentCloud, or have a development site where you can kick the tires, we'd love your help testing out the new plug in (for current WordPress users, it should work exactly as you're used to). While we're finalizing out testing, we have special instructions for installing the updated plugin
