Banned Books Week -- September 27 - October 3, 2020!
Banned Books Week (September 27 - October 3, 2020) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Check out our banned book displays at your local library branch.

Pick Up Your Commemorative Samuel W. Tucker Library Card during Library Card Sign-Up Month this September!
Alexandria Library has joined the American Library Association and libraries nationwide for Library Card Sign-Up Month, an initiative to highlight the value of a library card. This year's theme is "Libraries Are Wonderful."
Celebrate with us by getting a library card at your local library branch. We are offering a limited edition of Samuel W. Tucker library cards – while supplies last. Replacement cards are FREE this month.

Celebrate Constitution Week (September 17 - September 23)

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15)
Beginning Tuesday, September 15, Alexandria Library will host programs that highlight the rich Hispanic heritage in our community. During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), we recognize the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their contributions to our culture.
