A Splendiferous September Begins

August was  an interesting month for us in our new location. We have had time to settle in and see how people move around the space and interact with the work. We want to thank everyone who has visited us, and bought from us online, for your support of the gallery and our artists. For the time being we will continue to open for private viewings by appointment anytime, and walk-ins Thursday - Sunday, 11am - 4pm. We are looking forward to the day we will have the gallery doors open full time.

If you missed our August showing of Michelle Gregor's work, or our August Collections show, we have retained a selection of works. So you can still see this work at the gallery or on our website.

This week we are working hard to get our two new shows ready for the Astoria Second Saturday Art Walk on September 12. Our featured show is "Dawning Splendor" pairing the work of Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley and Mary Alayne Thomas. Our September Collections show features the work of Duy Huynh, Emily McPhie and Maggie Taylor.

Dawning Splendor

Dawning Splendor is an exhibition pairing the works of Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley and Mary Alayne Thomas. Each artist has created a new body of work for the exhibition, sharing a fascination for wildlife, a similar sense of design within their composition, and spark of magic in their representation of the world. Both paint animals and botanicals to create a sense of myth and fairytale with an Art Nouveau flourish. MORE...
Mary Alayne Thomas paints women adorned with flowers and birds, surrounded by animals. They are caught in a moment of contemplation and often are pensive. MORE...
Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley’s paintings are rooted in marine biology, ecology and the natural environment, but her approach is influenced by a myriad of diverse aesthetic concerns and storytelling formats. MORE...

September Collections

In Duy Huynh's poetic and contemplative paintings the artist has developed a vocabulary of symbolism with recurring images that relate to physical or spiritual travel. MORE...
Faith, family, self-improvement, hard work and above all… kindness – these are the ingredients that combine to create Emily C. McPhie's compelling paintings. MORE...
Maggie Taylor draws from magic story tellers such as Anderson, Lewis Carol and the Brothers Grimm. Layering and manipulating imagery, texture and color fields, it is a process of addition and reduction. MORE...

Supporting You Favorite Small Businesses During Covid

These are difficult times for small retail businesses such as galleries, and we appreciate your support. Obviously the best way to support a business is to buy stuff, but there are other ways too. During this time our online sales have helped us greatly. Just as word-of-mouth recommendations are the most important tool driving in-person visits, social media is essential to building our online presence. Like... Follow... Share...
