Please continue to follow the advice of health experts to keep yourself and others safe during COVID-19, especially during back-to-school season: wash your hands frequently, practise physical distancing, wear a face covering in all indoor public spaces, and stay home when you are sick. Recycling Depot now open at the landfill

A recycling depot has opened at the lower gate area of the City's landfill to help reduce landfill wait times and make dropping off items more efficient. The depot accepts recyclable materials that do not carry a disposal fee during landfill hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30am–3:30pm) and household hazardous waste materials on Saturdays only.

Notification Centre now available in City’s mobile app

The City’s app, Pingstreet, has a new feature! Users can now receive timely notifications relating to City services. If you already use the app, you recently received a timely notification about the recycling depot now open at the landfill. Pingstreet is available for Apple, BlackBerry, and Android devices. Visit barrie.ca/pingstreet for more detail.

Book time to work out, swim, or attend fitness classes!

We’re expanding recreation services at our three main recreation centres. Starting September 8, Barrie residents and non-residents will be able to attend select fitness classes and use or purchase recPASS memberships. Registration opens today at play.barrie.ca. For full information about the current status of recreation services please visit barrie.ca/RecUpdates.

Seniors centres remain closed, special programming continues

There is no confirmed reopening date for seniors centres at this time. We want to be extra vigilant about keeping seniors safe as they are a high-risk group during the pandemic. The City continues to offer Seniors Centre Without Walls programming, free and open to all seniors in Barrie, to help seniors safely connect and engage with others.
