OGC September Webinars are Here:
As we approach the end of the year, I feel privileged that as a geospatial community, we are extremely well-positioned to play an integral part in humanity’s data future. There has never been this much potential for data integration and analysis, just as there has never been more of a need for interoperability between disparate resources.

My appreciation keeps growing for the technical ability of OGC’s standards to improve data integration and interoperability, but also how our efforts are conduits to innovation, collaboration, and partnerships within and across communities and regions. Our work is far from over! There’s an increasing urgency to be a part of the standards development processes at this moment in time when the future so clearly depends on improved data integration and interoperability. We need to increase our collaboration on a strong foundation of standards and interoperability that will create a healthy data ecosystem that connects people, communities, technology, and decision-making for the good of society.

I invite you to engage with the OGC: participate in our upcoming member meeting, join one of our regional forums (upcoming ones include the ANZ forum, UK Ireland forum), attend one of our thought leadership events (New Space, Weather Revolution, GeoEthics), and take part in our OGC API sprints! Plenty of opportunities to engage, to learn, to lead and to make an impact!

Learn how OGC APIs are revolutionary for developers during a special "Show and Tell” track is scheduled for September 16th, 2020 from 06:00am to 10:00am EDT during the September 2020 OGC Member Meeting. The special track will bring together implementers, developers, end-users and other stakeholders of OGC API standards to share their case studies.

The next OGC UK & Ireland forum will be held virtually on Friday 11th September between 1100-1300 BST.  The theme of the meeting will be “Open standards – why do they matter?”

The meeting will consist of two halves: the first one with invited speakers from the UK standards community and the second half with members’ contributions of 5 minute duration.   If your organisation is based in the UK or Ireland, and you'd like to contribute a short presentation on the theme, then please send a title and a few sentences describing your talk by Tuesday 25th August to info@ogc.org with the subject "Presentation for the UK & Ireland Forum."

LearnThe webinar will present a questionnaire that has been prepared by OGC, Ordnance Survey and KU Leuven staff on behalf of the OGC University DWG to facilitate collection of feedback about practices on the commissioning of geospatial PhD research across the globe. OGC would like to better understand the methodologies, mechanisms, challenges and opportunities that organisations go through when they commission geospatial PhD research.
