Emergency On-Line Rally for Gaza
Over the last 2 weeks Israel has intensified its brutal oppression of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza strip.
Israeli imposed fuel cuts have meant that residents receive only 1 to 3 hours of electricity per day, affecting all parts of everyday life, including disrupting essential medical treatment and facilities for Covid-19 testing. Moreover, Israel has closed the Kerem Shalom crossing, the only commercial crossing from Gaza to Israel.
As they are plunged in darkness due to the punishing electricity crisis, Israel has been bombing Gaza every night for the 2 weeks, damaging Gaza’s already crumbling infrastructure.
On top of this, the first cases of community transmission of Covid-19 in Gaza have occurred, with 4 cases being diagnosed out of quarantine, creating worries of a deadly outbreak that the healthcare system is ill equipped to cope with, already devastated by 14 years of Israeli blockade. The blockade means the health system lacks essential medicines, and has just 65 ventilators for a population of 2 million.
The illegal collective punishment imposed on Palestinians in Gaza must end.
We must take action, to demand the siege is lifted and Israel is held to account for its violations of Palestinian human rights.
Join this emergency rally to hear from speakers from Gaza to outline the current situation on the ground as well as politicians and trade unionists in the UK, to find out how you can get active to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

The Big Ride 2020

Week 6 - The Challenge is over!

We made it! Nearly another 8500km / 5300 miles with a bumper Sunday as we bid farewell to The Big Ride for Palestine Challenge. It’s with mixed emotions we write this humble thanks to all our intrepid, energetic and persistent riders. Through sun, rain and crosswinds. Valleys and hills. Tarmac and off-road. Punctures and wrong turnings. Pot holes and more pot holes. Protests and movements. Blood, sweat and tears. Smiles, beeps and cheers. We’ve made it to the end of week 6. Strava will tell us we collectively cycled over 60,000km / 37,000miles. We know the actual total is much higher as more comrades have joined us during the challenge. And even more will be added as we ask all those not on strava to send us details on their incredible achievements. But strava won’t tell us of the new friends we’ve made. The personal goals we’ve smashed. The indescribable feeling of showing our solidarity for Palestine and experiencing that support in the many communities we’ve cycled through. Add to that the £53,000 we’ve raised to date for the playground for Khuza'a Village in Gaza and you’ll understand just how amazing your efforts have been. The numbers can only speak of part of the journey we’ve been on together. It’s been an honour to be a part of each one of your rides, and we hope to be a part of your future efforts in supporting this crucial cause. Watch this space to learn how you can stay involved.
60,000km, £53,000, 109 riders. 7 countries. But always and forever, ONE Palestine.

As you read this and while the challenge is over for us here, Palestinians in Gaza are facing another crisis. They have been bombed for several days destroying some of the meagre health support available in Gaza over the last week while Covid-19 infections are reaching a critical stage.
