The Great GreenBelt Cleanup 2020
|
|
The Great GreenBelt Cleanup 2020 is in the books! Over 170 volunteers joined Keep Carroll Beautiful to remove litter and debris, clean signs, and perform simple tasks on the Carrollton GreenBelt trail. Beautiful weather, happy faces, hard workers... we could not have asked for a better day on the trail!
Families, friends, puppies, singles, small groups, big groups, schools, civic organizations, businesses came out on a Saturday morning to clean up litter and bring awareness to the trash problem! Make sure to wave at the people wearing their green #GGCU2020 t-shirts around town! They are all awesome! More pictures on the GGCU 2020 website.

One of our volunteer groups - Latinos United of Carroll County - has a message for all of Carroll County residents: fill out your CENSUS 2020 by the end of September! Why is CENSUS participation important? Federal funds are distributed per population and support programs like:
- Title 1 School Grants (all Carroll Co Schools are Title 1) / ED
- School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program / USDA
- Medicaid, Headstart, Health Care Centers / HHS

Impact Grants are made available to organizations through Member participation in Carroll EMC’s Operation Round Up® program. Members are given the opportunity to contribute by rounding their electric bill to the nearest whole dollar. These funds are separate from company profits and are only accessible to the Foundation Board of Trustees who award the donations to eligible partners.

KCB Donates Trash Bags
to Carroll County Sheriff's Office
|
|
In August, Keep Carroll Beautiful donated 60 boxes of trash bags to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. These bags are used by the inmate detail to pick up trash along roadways within Carroll County.
While the donated bags barely fit into a pickup truck and a large SUV, they are a "drop-in-a-bucket" for the department - in 2019, there were 17,495 bags of litter collected during the road pickups and that number does not include tires or large debris.

New Recycling Bins
for Oak Mountain Academy
|
|
Oak Mountain Academy started recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans in their cafeteria a few years ago. Students and parents pick up the recyclables and move them to the Carroll County Convenience Centers. When their old, cardboard boxes finally fell apart, the Environmental Club and teachers contacted KCB about new bins - we knew how to help them! With new, BIG, beautiful, blue bins!!!

Keep Carroll Beautiful provides volunteer opportunities for young and older students. With the Adopt-A-Trail program, we try to assign cleanup areas close to restrooms and playgrounds, so kids can participate in community-building activities away from car traffic and close to park amenities. Please see our Adopt-A-Trail page for more details on GreenBelt cleanups.

Please do not leave any recyclables in the back of KCB office!
Keep Carroll Beautiful strives to be the information hub for all things recycling in Carroll County. While we may offer programs and recycling events for specific items, we no longer accept recyclables that can be easily dropped off at locations throughout the county.
While we appreciate the effort to do the right thing, leaving bulbs and batteries in the back of our Dixie Street office often ends up with broken glass and creates health hazards to our staff. We are working on restarting some of the collection programs, but in the meantime, we are not accepting any items at our office.
