Beyond Business as Usual!

Thanks so much to our panelists and participants for attending our first event back at The Capital. QSEC President Emma-Kate Rose and Professor Ingrid Burkett (Yunus Centre) led us through a conversation about the various observations of how social enterprises go beyond business as usual. Natura Pacific, Green Fox Studios and Nundah Co-op discussed first-hand experiences with the unique ways social enterprises have responded to the changing times.

It was great to be able to connect in person with members. As we continue to negotiate the Covid restrictions, we will keep trying to find ways to bring regional communities and social enterprises together to share, connect and engage.

Stay tuned for more events!

Stories for Impact Watch Party!!!!

DATE CLAIMER - 17 September 2020 6 - 7pm

Grab your popcorn!

Thirteen Qld social enterprises were the lucky recipients for the Digital Storytellers program. But don’t worry if you missed out this time! You can join us to GET INSPIRED by the Stories for Impact, and find out how you can also build your own impact story. Thanks to our friends at Digital Storytellers, QSEC will be releasing the DIY storytellers program so that social enterprises can take advantage of this program too. It’s all about building capacity for social enterprises to reveal just how they go beyond business as usual.
Watch this space, and we will be sending out an invitation to join our watch party!

Regional Catch-ups!

(picture above - Elise Parups, Ben Lyons and Geoff Woolcock)

QSEC has been actively chatting with regional contacts across Queensland.

Gold Coast has started to form a dedicated group of social impact leaders with new champion Candice Olivier. There is a regular meet up at the Karma Collab Hub so make sure you check it out for upcoming events.

Far North Qld (through Social Enterprise Network Tropics (SENT)) is alive with social enterprises and very much focused on creating a pathway to help build social enterprise activity in the region.  SENT is working alongside QSEC, Impact North and James Cook University and many other stakeholders to build an impact led summit looking through the regional and remote lens of social enterprise. Early planning has indicated the 15 and 16th October as the key dates to add to your calendar. Watch this space!

Central Qld is starting up a network to help bring social enterprises together around shared experiences and common problems and solutions. There were several social enterprises in their region who have been actively involved in the QSEC Stories for Impact and Positive Action Campaign.  It’s great to see such a diverse mix of enterprises from Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone, Emerald and further out in the Central Highlands.

EO Elise Parups travelled to Ipswich and the Darling Downs regions to catch up with the regional champions Maria Baker at Firestation 101, Harry Sillet and the crew at Vanguards Laundry,  White Box Enterprise manager Angharad Lubbock and USQ’s Chad Renaldo, Ben Lyons and Geoff Woolcock.

Lots of plans underway to help social enterprises in regional areas to connect and engage!   Let us know what’s going on in your area and how we can help connect and build partnerships!
