PR professionals have always managed relationships with the media, but as local newsrooms continue to face challenges, we’re finding our roles in PR and journalism are changing, and sometimes, overlapping. In fact, it’s not uncommon for journalists to find careers in marketing and PR roles.

PRSA Pittsburgh is teaming up with the Women’s Press Club of Pittsburgh to host a collaborative discussion with PR pros, former journalists and current journalists to offer perspectives on the ever-changing industry and how we can best work together. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your relationships or maybe you’re looking to switch fields, we hope this discussion can help PR and media professionals navigate the current landscape.

Joining us as moderator is Jennifer Miele, a former WTAE reporter and current host of The Catholic Accent television show on WTAE. After two decades working in Pittsburgh television, she, too, made the industry transition and now serves as the Chief Communications Officer for the Diocese of Greensburg.

Our PR & Media panelists include:

  • Billie Kellar, HR Manager at Garrison Hughes
  • Michael Machosky, Public Relations Coordinator at Markowitz Communications and Staff Writer at NEXTpittsburgh
  • Nicole Schuman, Content Manager at PRNEWS
  • Deborah Todd, Communications Manager at University of Pittsburgh
