LUX & DECIBLE

Friday, 9/11/2020 after dark
Kulturbetrieb Zappa, Stuttgarter Str. 3
73525 Schwäbisch Gmünd

Sound and light environment
Kurt Laurenz Theinert: room-filling projections
Liza Lauda: electronic sound generation
Boris Lechelt, Daniel Herberg, Michael John Wordsmith

Lux & decibels transform rooms. Mostly with each other, sometimes against each other but not always charming, sometimes disturbing. If there is blue bass, you can feel it here. If there are crackling lines, you can hear them here. The space in which the artists meet with their audience becomes a total work of art. It dissolves, becomes permeable to signals from a seemingly different world. The room becomes unstable and full of surprises and invites everyone to unlimited audio-visual surfing.

PLAYING SOUND AND LIGHT

Saturday, September 12, 2020, 9 p.m. for approx. 40 min.
Roller skating rink repeat street
73230 Kirchheim

Kurt Laurenz Theinert, visual piano
Thomas Maos, guitar and accessories

Thomas Maos and Kurt Laurenz Theinert like to play, one with his guitar and the other one with light. In free improvisations, they transform the roller skating rink into a cosmos of colors, patterns, sounds and rhythms. Sounds harmless, but it‘s overwhelming! How bars of white light deform, raster, overlap, become colored, dance, cast out nets - all of this wonderfully taking up the music, but also leading beyond it - is simply stunning.

Free entry!
From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. the roller skating rink is hosted with a musical program.
The number of spectators is limited. The Corona regulation of the state of Baden-Württemberg applies.

ARTISTIC HOUSE MANAGEMENT

Friday, September 18th, 2020, after dark
Eisenhutstrasse 50
72072 Tuebingen

Kurt Laurenz Theinert, analog mapping
Fried Dähn, Thomas Maos and others, sound improvisations

In darkness light transforms the world. What seems firmly built suddenly starts moving, changes and gets a new life. Reality becomes an illusion. Poetry hugs the old walls like a delicate skin. Oversized hands working on the facade cut holes in which new worlds appear. Colors appear and fade again. The supposedly familiar is transformed like a ghost and abducted into a new reality.

LIFE ENHANCEMENT

Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg Stuttgart
Weingarten conference center: Kirchplatz 7, 88250 Weingarten
Exhibition from September 20, 2020 to January 31, 2021
Hohenheim conference center: Paracelsusstraße 91, 70599 Stuttgart
Exhibition from September 21, 2020 to January 17, 2021

Artists who were shown in the academy before loan out works of their own choosen for this exhibition. Two new photographic series of mine are shown. In Weingarten, the series “Before the Content” photographs without a camera. However, like photographic images, they are snapshots. They document the brief moment when a website builds up in which the structure is already visible but the content has not yet been loaded.

„Collapsing Beauty - Collapsing Horror“ will be shown in Hohenheim. Photographs printed on thin fabric, which, because they are only hung on one corner like a towel, only reveal their content when they are unfolded by the viewer.

Due to Corona there will be no vernissages. On the first days of the exhibition, however, the curator Ilonka Czerny and some artists will be on site. On September 20, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Weingarten conference center. On September 21, 2020, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for you in the Hohenheim conference center.

The applicable hygiene rules are observed in the conference buildings. Opening times during the exhibition: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays on request

DIE SONOGRAFEN

“... Two internationally performing artists, the musician Fried Dähn on the violocello and the media and light artist Kurt Laurenz Theinert on the visual piano, combined to form a light-sound composition tha emerges over the pyramid and the entire sculpture. The audience experienced a magical play of light with lines, squares, circles and colors - in fine nuances coordinated with the music."
Schwarzwälder Bote 10.8.2020

Big thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen.
