#742BeTheDifference

To kick off the 2020-21 school year, we are launching our 742 Be the Difference campaign, celebrating that no matter the unusual circumstances, we can and will Be the Difference for our students and each other. Every 742 employee will receive a Be the Difference swag bag to celebrate the excitement of the new school year. Please make every effort to wear your Be the Difference t-shirts and masks to work tomorrow. We will be taking advantage of the many photo opportunities!

THE HAPPINESS ADVANTAGE

A Happier U: New Habits to Enhance Performance & Well Being

While it seems like a lifetime ago, we hope you all remember Devin Hughes who presented last year's opening back-to-school session on the Orange Frog and Happiness Advantage work. Many of you also got a chance to work with Devin again later in the school year. Well, good news! Devin is back again this year to continue our journey to A Happier U with a monthly series of virtual sessions to encourage and inspire us all to prioritize our well-being and positive mindsets as we begin another school year under very different conditions.

The first session in the series will be shared with teachers this week via Schoology and with non-licensed staff in your back-to-school training sessions on Sept. 3. We hope you find these sessions to be a great support as we all are called to change and adapt our work in such significant ways. Find out how to fill your own cup and to support your colleagues in holding a positive mindset as we begin the school year together.
THE ED CORNER

Elementary Home Learning Activities: Sept. 9-11

The learning & teaching department has developed home learning activities for K-2 and 3-5 students for Sept. 9 and 10. These activities will be posted on the district and school websites for families and will be translated, copied, and delivered to your schools by Sept. 4. Please offer each family a printed home learning activity page at back-to-school conferences and explain that students must complete the activities to receive attendance for Sept. 9 and 10. On Friday, Sept. 11, students will be participating in a Seesaw scavenger hunt. This scavenger hunt will be created by Kyle Turck and shared with teachers to post for their class on Sept. 11. One of the student tasks during the scavenger hunt will be to post photos of their completed home learning assignments. These posts will be used to verify attendance. Students will also participate in their first Google meeting with their teacher on Sept. 11.
