E-Learning
The Ontario Curling Council has launched two e-learning modules on our site.  These modules are open to members of our member associations, CurlON and NOCA.  If your club is a member of either of these associations then these modules are available to you!  The modules are free to take however you do need to register in order to take them.

Currently we are offering a Leaders in Training module and a Wheelchair Curling Coach module.

The E-Learning page is in a password protected section of our site.  In order to access that section members may request the password here:

Once you have that password, you may access the modules at this location:

Inside Sheet with DJ Brooks
Our first episode is live now and we can’t stop rewatching Emma Miskew answer your questions with DJ Brooks!  Who’s next? Why wouldn’t you know it, we just spoke with Lisa Weagle!  That episode will be up in a day or so and we still have Krista McCarville lined up!  Please consider submitting a question for Krista and hopefully we’ll get your question up on the show!  Video questions are very welcome!  Episodes will air on our Youtube channel (handy access provided below!) and on our social media platforms.

Return to Play Information

Our Member Associations - CurlON and NOCA have been busy communicating with member clubs about Covid-19 restrictions and Return to Play Guidelines.  The Ontario Curling Council has been acting as a conduit between clubs and the Ministry of Heritage, Sport , Tourism and Culture Industries including sitting on Ministry advisory panels, advocacy groups.  Clubs that have questions about the Ministry’s Return to Play Restrictions/Guidelines are encouraged to ask those questions of CurlON and NOCA so that we can forward them to our Ministry consultant and keep a record of those clarifications for all clubs.

Course Calendar

This fall has proved very challenging with respect to our educational offerings and while there is considerable uncertainty about what the fall will look like in the curling world, the OCC is planning on delivering as much content as we can safely manage.  We are hearing from you about the interest in courses and are doing our best to accommodate you.  The KW Granite Club in Waterloo has offered considerable time to us for some events and we want to thank them for that.  If your club is interested in hosting a course please contact us!  There is no risk at all for scheduling a course of your choosing.  Here’s what we have on the calendar so far!

We’re Asking You

In each newsletter, we’ll be asking a question of you!  We’ll select answers and include them in our next newsletter! Our question from the August Newsletter:

How does your club support competitive curlers from your club, be it juniors or adults?  What thoughts and suggestions can you share?

Here’s what you had to say!

From Bobby R. - North Bay Granite Club

We offer a Competitive League at an additional entry fee used to pay out the top performing teams.

We pay out a set fee per player to any junior that wins a provincial championship (to be used towards attending nationals).

We allow and co-promote any fundraising activities initiated by the competitive curler or team (silent auction, 50-50, spaghetti dinner, etc.).

We'll champion a Go Fund Me campaign (or equivalent) on behalf of the team (the last one was good for $800).

We offer a 30% discount on pro shop items if they wear our logo on their uniform.

Thanks Bobby!!

This month, our question is:

What is your suggested name for our new newsletter?  Let’s call it a contest!  There’s no prize, except you get to brag that you named our newsletter!  We’ll take your suggestions and announce the winner with the October newsletter.
