Papua New Guinea

September 2020

Dear Prayer Partners,

International travel continues to be a challenge in places, but there is some improvement in the larger outlook.   As of August 6, 2020, the US Department of State changed Papua New Guinea from a Level 4 “Do not travel” to a Level 3 “Reconsider travel.” (travel.state.gov.)

One of our visas has expired, and the passport is currently in the PNG Immigration office.  Pray that we may find out our next steps with that process soon.  Our goal to return in September (after the wedding and 1st grandbaby) has been rearranged with everything happening this year.

Here stateside, we were able to travel to Iowa and back in order to visit our son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Savannah Rowe.  Their baby’s arrival is past the Aug 25th due date so everyone’s getting excited for her arrival!  They both had the virus a few weeks ago, but seem to have come through it and Chris has returned to work.  We also traveled to New Mexico to move our daughter Amanda in to Clovis, NM, to teach in a Christian school.

As to the PNG side of travel, after we have obtained current visas for everyone . . . we then must: request approval for entry from the National Pandemic Controller, after approved from that office we complete an Air passenger Travel Form, then pre-book a 14 day quarantine approved hotel, book our tickets, and finally, arrive with a US COVID-19 negative test that is less than 7 days old for each traveler.

Thankfully transiting through Australia, though restricted, is still currently available.  We can apply for their Transit Exemption online once all else is set up. All this assuming that the airline flights and connections remain available.  Thank you for your prayers and support!

In Him,
Stan Rowe & family
