Positions


Senior Scientist in Microbiome Sciences. The Biological Systems Science Group within the Biological Sciences Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a senior scientist who will bring an established and vigorous independent research program in microbiome sciences (broadly defined) to the highly collaborative environment of PNNL.  This individual will be expected to strengthen our research program and contribute to emerging and established research programs in environmental and host-associated microbiome sciences.  It is expected that the candidate will contribute to establishing new research directions and strategies in microbiome sciences for the group.

Early Career Investigator in Marine Microbial Ecology and Evolution Awards

Submission Deadline: Letter of Intents by November 5th, 5pm EST, 2020
Funding Available:  $222,000 per annum, including  up to 20% indirect costs, over 3 yrs 

The purpose of these awards is to help launch the careers of outstanding investigators in the field of marine microbial ecology and evolution who will advance our understanding through experiments, modeling or theory. Investigators must be currently active in research on microbial ecology and/or evolution, excluding research focusing on the microbiomes of animals or plants. Investigators with backgrounds in different fields are encouraged to apply.

Pilot and Feasibility Awards for research on digestive health and disease.
Submission Deadline: Monday 5 PM CST, September 14th 2020.

The Center for Interdisciplinary Study of Inflammatory Intestinal Disorders (C-IID) [formerly named the Digestive Diseases Research Core Center (DDRCC)] and the Duchossois Family Institute (DFI) have joined in partnership to award up to 5 Pilot and Feasibility awards at a level of $50,000 each for research on digestive health and diseases.

Multiagency program led by NSF 

Full Proposal Deadline(s) (due by 5 p.m. submitter's local time): November 18, 2020
Funding: $24M is available for up to 12 awards in  FY21.

Proposals must seek to quantitatively model, compute and decipher pathogen transmission between hosts, including but not limited to humans, other animals and plants. Projects should be broad, interdisciplinary efforts that go beyond the scope of typical studies. Proposals for research on disease systems of public health concern to developing countries are strongly encouraged, as are disease systems of concern in agricultural systems.

The Sloan Foundation seeks to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars who possess the potential to make substantial contributions to their field. The Lewis and Clark Fund encourages exploratory field studies for the collection of specimens and data and to provide the imaginative stimulus that accompanies direct observation. Awards are available to US Resident graduate students studying in the US, in fields including but not exclusive to: archaeology, anthropology, biology, ecology, geography, geology, linguistics, paleontology, and population genetics.
