Hello RoughRiders Family,

We are proud to announce our tryout dates and times. These tryouts will take place in Waterloo, Iowa. A special thanks to Coach Phil Axtell and Young Arena General Manager, Chris Dolan on working with us to get these times set. There have been a lot of people around the state including but not limited to, Chad Remakel in Dubuque and Cassie Shaw of Coral Ridge Arena, that have been working closely with us to get our season planned.

The first week of tryouts will consist of skill development skates to prepare our players for the following week of evaluations. We, unfortunately, where not in a position to offer a pre-tryout camp as originally planned. However, all tryout skates are included in this year’s tuition. 

We are still working through finalizing practice times, but a majority of them will be held in Iowa City at this time. Waterloo and Dubuque are in the process of scheduling their seasons and could have available ice for us in the coming weeks.

We will continue to keep you, our membership, informed on updates, but information and schedules are constantly evolving everyday as we move through this process. The MHL High School League voted to start the season on-time beginning in November so we will continue to finalize the practice plan for the high school and all youth teams over the next several weeks. We are to a point in that process that all travel teams will be practicing once per week for sure with all ages, a second practice is more than likely, and a third very possible. There will be a rotating schedule with our available ice slots and still subject to change. For example:

Week 1: 8U 1-2 practices, 10U-14U 2-3 practices
Week 2: 10U 1-2 practices, 8U, 12U-14U 2-3 practices
Week 3: 12U 1-2 practices, 8U-10U & 14U 2-3 practices
Week 4: 14U 1-2 practices, 8U-12U 2-3 practices

*High school practices will be held during the week, because of game schedule on weekends, and we are currently working with Coral Ridge to finalize those days and times.

All RRHC practices days will occur predominately on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until we are back in our home rink.

8U: Week of October 26

10U: Week of October 26

12U: Week of October 19

14U: Week of October 19

High School: Week of October 12

Season End Dates:

March 12-14, 2021 MWAHA Championship – Des Moines
