Chicago Travel Quarantine List

The Emergency Travel Order directs travelers entering or returning to Chicago from states experiencing a surge in new COVID-19 cases to quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of the last contact within the identified state.
As of August 28th, travelers from the following states and territories should quarantine upon arrival in Chicago:

Free Flu Shots for Seniors
In partnership with Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services is hosting flu immunization clinics at senior centers across Chicago on Thursday, September 3rd, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Seniors and their loved ones can get a flu shot with a valid health insurance card.
- Seniors without insurance also can get a flu shot at no cost.
- Please wear a cloth face covering and easy-access clothing for vaccine administration.
- Participants will earn a coupon to save 10% on a grocery purchase at Jewel-Osco.

Your Home is Someone’s Workplace

Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot has launched the Your Home is Someone’s Workplace campaign to elevate care workers (e.g., house cleaners, nannies, and home healthcare aides) as working professionals deserving of better working conditions, dignity and respect.
There are over 56,000 care workers in the Chicagoland area who clean homes, care for children, and take care of the sick, elderly, and/or those with disabilities. Their office is someone’s home, and though it is a private residence, their work needs to be safe. Care workers have their own families to care for, and they deserve a livable wage and the ability to take time off to care for themselves or their loved ones without the risk of losing financial security. Chicago voters can now apply to Vote By Mail for the November 3, 2020, General Election. Those who apply now will be first in line to receive ballots when ballot mailings start in late September and early October.
If you have already applied to Vote By Mail and prefer to go in person, there will be drop off boxes for Vote-By-Mail ballots at all early voting locations.

Supervision During E-Learning Survey
|

With the start of the school year, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and the City of Chicago are surveying families to better understand who may need help finding a safe space for their children during traditional school hours.
As CPS assesses parental needs throughout the city, they are evaluating opportunities to provide potential support with child supervision for families who have school-age children under 14 years of age.
While the priority deadline has passed, families are still encouraged to complete the survey.

As the start of the school year approaches, students are encouraged to sign-up for Chicago Connected, a public-private partnership designed to provide high-speed internet for eligible Chicago Public Schools (CPS) families at no cost to them.
Chicago Connected will provide internet for approximately 100,000 CPS students for up to four years by directly paying for internet service for families that are most in need. With remote learning continuing this fall, signing students up for the program is especially critical over the next several weeks.

Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, in partnership with IDEO, BMO Harris Bank, and the Illinois Restaurant Association, has announced the Winter Design Challenge, a first-of-its-kind competition that will engage community members to reimagine the winter outdoor dining experience in Chicago.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a variety of challenges to Chicago’s restaurant and bar owners, and the Winter Design Challenge will draw on the expertise and creativity of Chicago residents to propose innovative outdoor dining solutions that adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
A panel of local restaurants and community members will select one winner in each of the following categories:
- Outdoor, standalone structures,
- Indoor-adjacent spaces, and
- Cultural shifts making winter dining more appealing.
All submissions must comply with local COVID-19 guidelines. Each winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and opportunities to pilot their idea at restaurants and bars in the city.
The challenge will run until Monday, September 7th, at 11:30 p.m. PST, with winners announced in mid-September. All Chicago residents are invited to participate and submit their ideas on IDEO’s open innovation platform.
