It really has been a week of 4 seasons! Our typical Canterbury spring is here with all the usual culprits; gail force winds for bending, snow for playing and Jack Frost, leaving his sparkling calling card. Winter peace is shattered and spring is bursting forth, with peach blossom & daffs leading the charge!
Everything is moving, especially our delivery trucks unloading everything you've been waiting for! Of course the lawns need mowing but the weeds don't stand a chance...... under all that winter mulch you put on!
Before you peruse what's on offer this week, please take note.
Feed your plants and they will reward you! Most trees and shrubs will survive satisfactorily with little or no feeding, however, if they are fed well, especially in the first year or two, they will really thrive! Fruit trees, vegetables and flowers definitely respond to fertilizing, resulting in much pleasure and bumper harvests! As they grow, plants require a balance of nutrients and will quickly use up those naturally available, so replenishing the soil is of paramount importance!

ROSE CARE
As the new season's growth sprouts away, spraying and feeding become very important. To get your roses off to a good start, feed now with Tui Rose Fertiliser. This will feed them for three months, so in 3 months time, feed them again! Make sure old leaf litter is removed as this could harbour pests and diseases, which in turn can re-infect the plant. Replace this with a good, clean mulch. Copper and oil are good sprays to use after pruning, then when there is active growth, use 'Combat 3 in 1 Rose Spray'. These products will prevent insect and fungal infections.
