How child advisors rapidly respond to COVID-19
The Geneva-based Child Rights Connect Secretariat links international child advisors to children from around the world. With the rapidly evolving pandemic, child advisors have been forced to rethink their human rights defender activities to ensure that their work remains as inclusive and far-reaching as possible. One way in which they have achieved this has been through creating a storybook with encouraging narratives of children’s experiences during lockdown measures. The book aims to create a positive connection between children and COVID-19.

How to save lives in emergencies by closing the gender divide
We live in a digital gender divide. Women are 17% less likely to use the Internet than men, with an even wider gap in least developed countries. Women in low- and middle-income countries are also 10% less likely than men to own a mobile phone. A woman's ability to access accurate information not only has a direct impact on her own survival and disaster resilience, but also on that of the wider community. A new report from ITU and the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) highlights the importance of integrating women's needs into national disaster risk reduction frameworks.

How do animals live through COVID-19?
Worldwide, animals took over the quiet streets where lockdown measures kept people indoors. Simultaneously, smog levels lifted and the earth was allowed to breathe. Rare harmony was seen between wildlife and mother earth. The Ecospirituality Foundation prompts humanity to consider whether this quietened time of reflection has caused us to rethink the way we live in a way that benefits not just animals and the planet, but people too.
