We are happy to welcome everyone back to the gallery for our upcoming exhibitions 20/20 and Teacups and Tattoosopening September 25th.
20/20features ceramic artwork by the Alberta Potters Association (APA) and marks the organisation’s 50th Anniversary reflecting the APA’s 20/20 vision. This juried members show will include a rich range of ceramic arts, which recognizes the roots of the association while celebrating contemporary clay artists in Alberta.
Teacups and Tattoos is a series of paintings celebrating young contemporary Calgary women by Mary-Leigh Doyle. She presents us with the visual variety and uniqueness of her subjects. For some tattoos and piercings are an outward sign of their own power to choose; for others, it’s a fashion choice. Doyle attempts to capture this level of self-awareness and reflects on the evolving definition of what it is to be a woman.
