PROJECT UPDATES
Los Angeles Southwest College Student Union Building

Verdical Group is working with LA Southwest College and HGA Architects to provide LEED Project Management, LEED Energy Modeling, LEED Daylight Modeling, and Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) services for the LA Community College District (LACCD)’s LA Southwest College Student Union building, which is pursuing LEED BD+C Silver certification.

The Student Union building is a two-story, 31,000-square-foot facility that will encompass a mix of student lounge and study spaces, a gaming room, dining and a café, kiosks, conference spaces, and offices.
Malibu High School Building


Verdical Group is providing Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) Project Management to achieve CHPS verification equivalency; Energy Modeling for Title 24 and Net Zero; and Daylight Modeling for a new building at Malibu High School.

The NAC Architecture project, owned by the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District, will span approximately 70,000 square feet and feature both classrooms and multipurpose spaces. Verdical Group is also collaborating with the design team to advise on sustainability measures to achieve net zero energy performance.

THE ABCs of ZNE

USGBC National's Corey Enck wrote on their blog about his upcoming NZ20 workshop on LEED Zero. Enck will be presenting the workshop, which will cover program requirements and a framework for applying lessons-learned on September 15.  Read more here.

W E N D E L L    E W I N G
Director of Commissioning

We're pleased to welcome Wendell to the VG team! Wendell will be leading our Commissioning (Cx) department and will act as the point person for all new and existing projects requiring Cx or Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx).

Born and raised in the windy city, Wendell has been working as a mechanical engineer since 2005. Prior to joining VG as our Director of Cx, Wendell worked with the City of Chicago, P2S, EnerNOC, and LAUSD. He holds a B.S. and Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
 
H A N N A    L E O N A R D
Marketing & Events Intern

Hanna is assisting the Marketing and Events teams as they work to deliver the Net Zero Conference virtually this year. Her responsibilities also include helping to manage our social media channels and making updates to VG's websites.

Hanna is a recent graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she earned a B.A. in Geography/Environmental Studies. Prior to starting with Verdical Group, Hanna worked at Warby Parker, Cru, and the Dr. Henslick Vision Center.
 
M E R E D I T H    C O O K
Marketing & Events Intern

Meredith is helping the Events and Marketing teams with research, data input, and marketing to
assist with the execution of the Net Zero Conference and the Façade Tectonics 2020 World Congress.

She is a recent graduate from Occidental College, where she received her B.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy. She previously interned at Defenders of Wildlife and East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, as well as serving as a tour guide for Occidental.

Project Management & LEED Intern

Shruti will be assisting the VG Project Management team on a variety of project research, analysis, and documentation, including LEED, Fitwel, WELL, Living Building Challenge, CALGreen, CHPS, and Energy Modeling.

She is currently a student at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) pursuing her Master of Arts in Design for Sustainability. Her work history includes a role as a Sustainability Coordinator at SCAD Serve, a student-led community service initiative, and as a Junior Interior Designer for Ryde Design Group in Mumbai, India. She holds her LEED Green Associate credential.

Project Management & LEED Intern

Kate will also be assisting our Project Management team with project research, analysis, and certification documentation.

She is a student at UCLA pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Environmental Systems & Society, as well as a Minor in Geographic Information Systems & Technology (GIS&T). She previously served as the Recreation and Community Services Intern at the City of Santa Clarita and completed Sustainability Action Research at UCLA. She holds her LEED Green Associate credential and is actively involved with USGBC-LA.
