New Programme:
The Future is a Collective Project

The Future is a Collective Project was initiated by Deptford X director, Nathalie Boobis, in 2016 and is re-emerging in the digital realm as part of Deptford X Online 2020 for an edition of 6 workshops.

The Future is a Collective Project is about creating a learning environment that is non-hierarchical and in which no prior training, education or specific forms of knowledge are required to participate. All experiences are considered to be valid tools for knowledge production and sharing - from emotions, actions, stories and food to texts, films, artworks and music. The hope is that the group can share and learn from knowledge, narratives and ideas that have for too long been excluded from serious attention within the dominant and binary world view of white, western, capitalist patriarchy.

For Deptford X Online, we have invited 6 individuals whose practices we felt were driven by needs and desires to work beyond binary modes of thinking and doing to each lead a session. Each session coordinator offers their research, practice and work in progress as a starting point for a collective group discussion.

Call out for New Moor (No more) by residency artist Jaron Hill

September resident artist, Jaron Hill, is looking to speak to people with whom the notion of ‘retuning home’ has significant meaning. Working alongside fellow artist, Kerrie Addy, he invites anyone with any broad interest or personal connection to this theme to contact him in the hopes of finding fresh voices and creating new and exciting material for issue 2 of the duos Leeds based publication, HERM.

"For issue one, we worked with West Yorkshire Queer Stories and Yorkshire MESMAC to capture the voices, stories and talents of West Yorkshires LGBTQ+ community. For the return of the publication, we are exploring what it means to return home, in the broadest sense possible, whether it be culturally, physically or metaphysically. Home can exist in or outside ones body, comfort zone, culture or location. In considering what it means to return home, we welcome anecdotes, artworks, proposals or even conversations with relevance to or interest in the subject."

If this feels pertinent to you, contact hermherm.art@gmail.com or Jaron (@jarhil) on instagram

Gospel Green label competition winner announced!

In July 2020 Deptford X announced three finalist - Tiz Creel, Ella Daniel-Lowe and Georgie Cornish.

Gospel Green were bowled over with the quality of all the entrants to the competition and would like to congratulate each and every one who took part.

There can only be one winner and Gospel Green & Deptford X are delighted to announce that the design joining the Gospel Green family was created by the wonderfully talented Tiz Creel, who was also a lead artist in 2019’s Deptford X festival! Brock Bergius and the Deptford X judges were absolutely delighted with the design submitted by Tiz and the final result looks sensational.

Tiz's bottle will be available for a limited time only. Gospel Green created a special blend in celebration of both the winning label and their 30th birthday. This limited edition has a special dose of vintage Kent cider, made by the talented team at Kentish Pip.

Gospel Green’s cider maker, Brock Bergius, is absolutely delighted with the winning design and would like to congratulate Tiz on her 100% adherence to the brief – “create the unexpected and change perceptions, and boy has she done this!”

The bottles are available to buy now for a limited period of time and will make a reappearance in Deptford next year only for the festival. For those of you keen to try a bottle now you can head to the Gospel Green website for information on stockists near you.
