Collaborative OT Solutions is open for both in-person therapy & teletherapy for OT, PT, and Speech-Language Therapy services!  COTS follows all CDC, Federal, State, and SD County COVID-19 screening & safety guidelines.  Masks are required in the COTS clinic.
Karen Lewis Searcy, M. A., CCC, has 45 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist and has been a pediatric clinical supervisor at San Diego State University (SDSU) for the last 10 years.  She founded, and served as the Director for, Crimson Center for Speech & Language for 17 years.  Karyn is the author of “Early Intervention in Speech & Language: Empowering Parents” (Plural Publishing, 2011) and has frequently published and co-authored multiple journal articles and chapters in books.  In addition to teaching at SDSU, Karyn has also taught continuing education classes throughout the United States. Further, Karyn was a primary investigator in the development of Project Impact for Toddlers. She has been a grant co-investigator on many grant-funded clinical projects, hosted iCan Bike Crimson San Diego for nine years, and has served as a peer reviewer for several continuing education programs in the field of speech-language pathology.  Karyn is an advocate for parents and children she works with and has participated in numerous independent educational evaluations (IEE) for speech and language therapy. When Karyn is not at work, she loves to travel and kayak.
Kate Francis, M. S., CCC is a pediatric speech-language pathologist licensed by the California Speech-Language Pathology Board and the American Speech and Hearing Association. She was born and raised in Texas where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas.
Kate has cultivated her expertise and experience in working with children with a variety of speech and language needs including language impairments, articulation disorders, fluency, and pragmatic difficulties. Kate has a particular love for facilitating language acquisition, developing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and celebrating new communication skills in children. When Kate is not at work, she loves to be outdoors and experience new adventures with her friends and family.
