Dear  <<First Name>>,

We hope your second week of the semester went well. We've got some exciting opportunities coming up!

Club show auditions are next week, along with The Arts Ambassador application. Later on in September, we've got a cabaret, Wed@One and grant applications for student work. Be sure to check out the details below!

Wed@One: Jose Solís & Peppermint
We're excited to announce the first of a series of Wed@Ones hosted by this semester's Floria Lasky Visiting Artist, Jose Solís.

Jose began his career as a critic when he was a teenager and launched a film review website while living in Honduras. He began writing about theatre while attending college in Costa Rica, and upon moving to NYC in 2012 focused entirely on the stage. His work has appeared in The New York Times, American Theatre, TDF Stages, Backstage, 3 Views, and America Magazine. He is the co-creator and co-host of the Token Theatre Friends podcast/web series.

His first guest will be trailblazing actress, activist, singer, DJ, and star of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Peppermint.

Theatre students can submit questions for the Q&A portion below.

The Hunter Theatre Company is holding auditions for an audio drama production of Nelson Diaz Marcano's Misfit, America, directed by Charlie Chauca. They will be held September 7-11. All students are encouraged to audition; you do not have to be a theatre major! If interested, please email misfitamerica.htc@gmail.com to schedule an audition.

About Misfits, America Combining the magical realistic influences of Latin American literature with the Western genre popularized in the twentieth century, “Misfit, America” follows a diverse community led by an interracial couple as they are forced to protect a Native American teen from a brotherhood of supremacists. But before they can fight, they must become at peace with their past and learn to trust the future on each other. Living on the outskirts of the last free place in America, this band of misfits must prepare to give it all or run.

Do you have something you've been working on and want to share? Are you a new student and want to meet some of your fellow theatre makers? Join us for the Baker in Exile Cabaret - an evening of sharing and community building.

Both live and prerecorded submissions are welcome. Following the performances will be an open Jam Session - a space to create something together or share work in progress.

The first official Baker in Exile Cabaret hosted by Esther Hafner will be September 15th at 6pm.
